Honeywell 5800rps vs 5815

Honeywell refers to the 5800rps as the smallest recessed wireless roller plunger transmitter on the market. With dimensions of 0.750" diameter; Wire Antenna: 8" x 1/8"; Cavity depth: 1", the 5800rps virtually disappears when installed. The 5800rps uses a plunger instead of a reed switch with a magnet. The 5800rps is ideal for both residential and commercial spaces. The 5800rps can be installed in wood, steel frames and concrete. The 5800rps is compatible with both Honeywell’s Vista and Lynx series. The 5800rps has operating temperatures of 10 degrees F to 120 degrees F. The 5800rps is supervised for check in signals and low battery supervision. The 5800rps will send a check in signal every 70 to 90 minutes. The 5800rps operates on one 3V lithium coin cell battery and has a battery life of up to 7 years.

Honeywell’s 5815 is a two zone wireless door window transmitter. The 5815 is part of the “small” wireless door window 5800 series with dimensions of 1-1/2"W x 3"H x 7/8"D. The 5815’s small sleek design makes the perfect solution where aesthetics are important. The 5815 has 2 Loops: Loop 1 is wired terminals, Loop 2 is the 2 built in reed switches that are in parallel with each other. One is located on one end and the other on the side and only 1 can be used at a time. The 5815 has an RF transmitting range of 200 feet and operates with temperatures ranging from 32 degrees F to 120 degrees F. The 5815 will send a tamper signal to the control panel when the cover is removed, It will send loop 4. The 5815 is supervised for check in signals if programmed as input type RF. The 5815 will send check in signal every 70-90 minutes as input type 3RF. The 5815 will send the low battery signal when the battery voltage reaches 2.3V. It stops functioning at 2.0V. When the unit detects a low battery, it will send the low battery signal the next time it is sends any other signal. If the zone is programmed as input type 4, unsupervised, the panel will still see the low battery signal if it is sent with the check-in signal. The 5815 operates on one 3V Lithium battery and will last 3-5 years.

Both the 5800rps and 5815 are very small transmitters with a long transmitting range. The 5800rps and 5815 are compatible with all 5800 series wireless receivers which makes them both compatible with Honeywell’s Vista hardwire series control panels and the Lynx wireless series.
