Honeywell 5811 vs 5814

Honeywell’s 5811 is a surface mounted wireless door/window transmitter and is a very popular transmitter due to it’s size and RF transmitting range. The dimensions are 2 ⅛”W x 1 3/16”H x ¼”D and has an RF transmitting range to 150 feet. The 5811 transmitter has a built in reed switch providing one zone (loop1 normally closed). The 5811 can be mounted vertically or horizontally but the device must be mounted on the stationary side with the magnet mounted on the moving part. The 5811 case comes in either white or brown and because of it’s depth, once mounted, the 5811 goes virtually unnoticeable. The 5811 is not weatherproof but will operate in temperatures ranging from 23 degrees F to 120 degrees F. The 5811 transmitter has tamper protection and supervised for check in signals if programmed as input type RF.

Honeywell’s 5814 is also a surface mounted wireless door/window transmitter but is ultra small with dimensions 1-1/2" H x 1-3/16" W x 5/8" D. The 5814 is an ideal transmitter where space is a challenge. Although the 5814 is extremely compact it does feature a built in reed switch, loop 1 normally closed and has an RF transmitting range up to 100 feet. The 5814 transmitter also provides tamper protection and is supervised for check in signals as long as it is programmed as input type RF. The operating temperatures of the 5814 are 32 degrees F to 120 degree F and is not weatherproof. The 5814 transmitter can be mounted in any position as long as the magnet is located to the right of the transmitter.

Both the 5811 and the 5814 are excellent choices and will provide excellent coverage of protection.
