Honeywell 5811 vs 5818mnl
Honeywell’s 5811 and 5818mnl are both wireless transmitters with many of the same functions and very different descriptions.
The 5811 is a surface mount supervised wireless door/window transmitter that is only ¼” high, comes in both white and brown so it virtually disappears after install which makes it a very popular transmitter. The full dimensions of the 5811 are 2⅛” x 1 3/16” x ¼”. The 5811 has a built in reed switch, which provides a single zone of protection, loop1 normally closed, and will operate in temperatures ranging from 32F - 120F. The 5811 has an RF transmitting range of 150 feet. The 5811 operates on 1, 3V lithium coin cell battery ( CR2032 ) and will usually have a battery life of up to 4 years.
The 5818mnl is a recessed supervised wireless door/window transmitter and is nearly half the size of standard transmitters. The dimensions of the 5818mnl are ¾”D x 3”L and the magnet is ⅜”D and ½”L. Unlike the 5811, the 5818mnl requires a ¾” diameter hole be drilled in the edge of the door or window frame and at least 3” deep. Recessed transmitters are concealed once a door or window is closed. The 5818mnl also has a built in reed switch providing a single zone of protection, loop1 normally closed. The 5818mnl has an RF transmitting range of up to 200 feet and will operate in temperatures ranging from 32F - 122F. The 5818mnl operates on 1, 1.5VDC, AAA Lithium (Energizer L92) or AAA Alkaline (Duracell MX2400, Panasonic AM-4PI, Eveready Energizer EN92) and will usually have a battery life of up to 10 years (when using the approved battery).
