Honeywell PROA7 Vs. Honeywell PROA7PLUS
The Honeywell Home PROA7 and the PROA7PLUS are very similar wireless security systems. However, the PROA7PLUS is enhanced with a front panel camera for disarming photos, when enabled. It includes optional embedded Amazon Alexa, and Bluetooth disarm. It also comes with the PROWIFIZW installed.

When comparing the PROA7 and the PROA7PLUS, they really are the same system for the most part. The only difference is that you are giving up certain features if you choose the PROA7. Some of these features can be added through separately purchased modules. For example, the PROA7PLUS comes with a PROWIFIZW Module built-in for WIFI connectivity and Z-Wave Plus for smart home automation. The PROA7 doesn't have a PROWIFIZW, but you can buy one separately if you want.
Other features exclusive to the PROA7PLUS cannot be added to the PROA7 in any scenario. For instance, the front panel camera for the PROA7PLUS is exclusive to that system, and there is no way to add an integrated camera to the PROA7. This means that you cannot set up a panel photo disarm feature with the PROA7. But an alternative, in that case, might be to set an added Total Connect 2.0 IP Camera to take a photo whenever the system is disarmed. The PROA7PLUS front panel camera can be disabled if the customer wishes to do so, but a customer who does not wish to use this feature may be better off with the PROA7, depending on their other desired features.
Another feature that is exclusive to the PROA7PLUS is built-in Amazon Alexa Support. This feature comes embedded in the PROA7PLUS for local use, but the PROA7 can only support it through the TC2 Alexa Skill and an external Alexa device when the system is monitored. When enabled on the PROA7PLUS, the feature can be disabled via panel programming. The PROA7PLUS and any PROWLTOUCH keypads enabled as an Alexa device can be used for the following Alexa features: Amazon Music, flash briefings, weather, time, add to calendar, set timers, create shopping lists, answer general questions, and many more. Some Alexa features that are NOT supported locally are phone calls, book reading, and the drop-in feature. For security reasons, you cannot use Alexa to disarm the system or to unlock a Z-Wave capable door.
One final feature included with the PROA7PLUS but not available to the PROA7 is automatic system disarming through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This optional feature has you set up a Bluetooth connection between your phone and the system. When you Arm your system Away, you will leave the premises and take your phone with you. When you return, and your phone reconnects with the panel via Bluetooth, the system will detect the connection and automatically disarm once the Entry Delay begins. Without you needing to manually enter a code. But since the PROA7 does not support Bluetooth connectivity, this feature cannot be added to that system.
Other than that though, you are basically looking at two identical systems when comparing the PROA7 and PROA7PLUS. Both support 127 encrypted zones out of the box, with the potential to add 123 non-encrypted zones with a PROTAKEOVER Module. Both use the Total Connect 2.0 interactive monitoring and automation platform. Both have the same general appearance, though the lack of a camera on the PROA7 does technically affect aesthetics. Both have a 7-inch backlit touchscreen, Chime & Voice functionality, and the same user interface (UI).
Since the PROA7PLUS has the built-in PROWIFIZW, you can get it monitored for WIFI-only right out of the box. But the PROA7 cannot be set up for monitoring service on its own. You must add a PROWIFIZW and/or one of the cellular communicators (PROLTE-A and PROLTE-V). Since the PROA7 has no connectivity on its own, it cannot receive firmware updates until a communicator has been added and activated. The PROA7PLUS can receive firmware updates as soon as its built-in communicator is activated.
As of May 2021, the ProSeries Panels do not support local end-user programming. All programming is performed remotely by the user's monitoring company. This requires that a communicator is installed and activated. In other words, you can't even program the PROA7 until you add some type of communicator and get it activated for monitoring service. With the PROA7PLUS, you can get started right away by activating the integrated PROWIFIZW for WIFI connectivity. But if you want cellular connectivity on either system, then you must add either the PROLTE-A or PROLTE-V. Remember that using a cellular communicator will require a monitoring plan that includes cellular communication. This is typically more expensive than an internet-only monitoring plan, but the benefit is that cellular communication is generally more reliable than an internet connection, and less prone to outages or drops in service. Assuming that a strong cellular connection is achieved.
