Honeywell VISTA 15P vs Honeywell LYNX Touch 5100

One of the most common questions we get from potential customers is, "which security system should I chose?" While this is a loaded question with lots of variables, we will look at the differences between two of our more popular systems - the VISTA-15P and the LYNX Touch L5100.

While the VISTA-15P is a member of Honeywell's famous VISTA Series of wired alarm control panels, the LYNX Touch is an all-in-one wireless control panel. This is the biggest difference between the two systems. The VISTA-15P is just a circuit board and the "brains" of the security system. You need to connect all of your sensors, keypads, sirens, etc to the VISTA-15P to make it a complete security system. The LYNX Touch on the other hand is a control panel, keypad, siren and wireless receiver all wrapped up in one unit. Therefore, the LYNX Touch is much easier to install and more often than not, you will be able to put together a full LYNX Touch security system for less than VISTA-15P security system.

Another key distinction between the two systems is which communicators they support for monitoring. While you can add an internet alarm communicator to both systems, the LYNX Touch is compatible with the L5100-WIFI and the ILP5 internet communicators and the VISTA-15P is only compatible with the 7847i internet communicator. Both systems also support cellular alarm communicators. The LYNX Touch uses the GSMVLP5-4G, while the VISTA-15P uses the GSMX4G or the GSMV4G. There are some other functional differences. The VISTA-15P supports up to twenty two wires zones and up to twenty six wireless zones. The LYNX Touch only supports one wired zone but up to sixty three wireless zones. The VISTA-15P supports up to thirty two user codes while the LYNX Touch only supports sixteen.
