How Do I Access Video for Honeywell IP Cameras?
You can access video for Honeywell IP Cameras by logging into Total Connect 2.0 and navigating to the appropriate section. This can be done using the TC2 website or mobile app. Certain Honeywell Security Panels and keypads will allow you to access live camera feeds locally as well.
Honeywell IP Cameras connect to the internet to stream live video to Total Connect 2.0. A user then accesses the Total Connect 2.0 platform to view the live feed for these cameras. Either the Total Connect 2.0 website or mobile app can be used for this purpose. Please note that this requires a monitoring plan that includes video surveillance, such as an Alarm Grid Platinum Plan. See this post for more information about our monitoring plans.
It is also important to note that certain Honeywell Alarm Panels and touchscreen keypads can also be used to access live camera feeds. A good example can be seen in the Honeywell LYNX Touch Panels, which can stream the legacy Honeywell Cameras. Again, this will require a monitoring plan with video surveillance to connect the security cameras to a network. As of September 2020, the only Honeywell IP Cameras available for purchase are the Honeywell IPCAM-WIC1, the Honeywell IPCAM-WIC2, and the Honeywell IPCAM-WOC1. These are commonly known as the Honeywell HD IP Cameras. At the time of this writing, no panel or keypad is capable of streaming the HD cameras.
For this FAQ, we will focus on accessing camera feeds through Total Connect 2.0. If you have a compatible panel or keypad for streaming cameras, such as a Honeywell LYNX Touch Panel, please refer to the manual for that device. We will also assume that the camera has already been set up and paired with Total Connect 2.0.
Complete the following steps to access the live camera feed for a Honeywell IP Camera through Total Connect 2.0:
1. Access Total Connect 2.0. Go to the Total Connect 2.0 website or open the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App on your Android or iOS device. Login to TC2 using your credentials. Remember that the default username for an Alarm Grid monitored customer is the email address that was used during the sign-up process. If you want to use the TC2 mobile app but don't have it yet, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
2. Go to Cameras Menu. If you are using the TC2 website, click the Cameras button on the left-hand side of the screen. If you are using the mobile app, you should see the Cameras button on the top bar for Android, or the lower bar for iOS.
3. Choose a camera. All of your programmed cameras should appear on the screen. Click on the camera that you want to access. The live feed for the camera should then load on your device. You can then view the current activity for the camera in real-time. Please note that the stream will typically become lost after a few minutes. When that happens, you can simply reload the stream to continue viewing.
On the website, you can also click the Record Now button to capture a 30 second video clip for later viewing. If you are using the mobile app, then you can capture a 30 second video clip by loading the video stream and then clicking the picture of the video camera. The video clip will be made available in the Activity Menu once it is ready.
