How Do I Activate the Chime on an Interlogix Simon XT?
You can activate the chime on an Interlogix Simon XT by turning on the chime function from the main menu. This will have the panel produce a chime sound whenever a programmed sensor is activated. The sensor number will also be displayed on the screen so that it can be quickly identified.
The chime menu option is available from the main menu of the Simon XT System. A user can toggle between options for on and off. Please note that this option will only be present if there are already chime sensors programmed with the system. If no chime sensors are programmed, the chime option will not be present.
Complete the following steps to activate the chime on an Interlogix Simon XT System:
1. Locate the chime option. Start from the main screen of the Simon XT System. Use the up and down arrows to scroll between different options in the main menu. Stop when you locate the option called "Chime".
2. Toggle the chime. With the Chime option displayed, press the "OK" button. The current setting will begin to flash, indicating that it can be changed. Then press the up or down arrow to toggle between the options for "On" and "Off". To activate the chime, make sure the setting is set to "On". Then press the "OK" button again. The "On" selection will stop flashing, indicating that it has been set.
3. Test the chime. Press the "Status" key to return to the main screen. Then test the chime by activating a sensor that has been programmed to chime. If the chime is functioning properly, the system should chime and display the faulted sensor.
If the system does not produce a chime, you may need to adjust the volume for the system. It's also possible that the sensor you used is not programmed to have the system produce a chime. Check the programming settings for the sensor, and try again.
