How Do I Add a 2GIG PAD1-345 to the 2GIG Edge?

You can add the 2GIG PAD1-345 to the 2GIG Edge by putting the 2GIG Edge into its listening mode and pressing and holding a button on the 2GIG PAD1-345 to transmit a signal for auto-enrollment. Then configure the keypad zone settings, and return home. Up to 8 remote keypads can be paired.

The 2GIG PAD1-345 is a very primitive keypad, but it does work with the 2GIG Edge. This keypad is only good for arming/disarming and triggering police/fire panics (if enabled on the system). It cannot be used to bypass sensors, and it does not display the system's current arming status.

Using the keypad is very simple. Just enter in the system's Master Code or a valid user code while the system is armed to disarm. You have to input the command slowly. The LED in the upper left of the keypad will flash as each keypress is registered on the PAD1-345. Likewise, if you want to arm, press the Stay or Away button, followed by a valid code. Again, input each keypress slowly, one at a time, so that each input is properly registered. One very important note about the PAD1-345 is that it can only arm/disarm and trigger panics on the partition for which it is assigned. You cannot move between partitions on the PAD1-345.

Complete the following steps to add a 2GIG PAD1-345 to the 2GIG Edge:

1. Enter the Keypads Menu. Begin from the main screen of the 2GIG Edge. Click the settings icon (the gear) in the bottom right. Enter the system's Installer Code (default 1561). Scroll down, and choose Installer Toolbox. Select Panel Programming. Click Keypads. You are now in the Keypads Menu.

2. Enroll the PAD1-345 Keypad. Choose one (1) of eight (8) keypad slots on the left-hand side of the display. Ideally, you will have an open keypad slot that you can use with your PAD1-345 Keypad device. Once you have selected a keypad slot press "Edit Keypad". This will bring the programming options for the keypad number you selected up on the left side of the display, with the programming entries for each option showing on the right. Use these menu options to enroll the PAD1-345 and configure its settings. Set the Keypad Used selection to Enabled. Click on Equipment Code, and then click the three horizontal bars "hamburger button" near the upper-right corner of the display. Choose the Equipment Code "0867 - PAD1-345 Wireless Keypad" from the drop-down menu.

Next, you will set the Device ID, also called the TXID. Click that option on the left-hand side of the screen, and then press the blue "Learn" button in the bottom-right corner of the numeric keypad. A message "Listening" will appear on the 2GIG Edge Screen. Then at the 2GIG PAD1-345 Keypad, press and hold any of its keys. Make sure that the 2GIG PAD1-345 has fresh batteries installed and is within wireless range of the 2GIG Edge when doing this. The 2GIG Edge should show a message "TXID Received", and it should display the Serial Number (SN) for the 2GIG PAD1-345 Keypad. You can compare this to the TXID listed on a sticker on the PAD1-345 to verify the keypad's serial number was received. Once you have, click the blue Accept button in the bottom-right of the pop-up window.

From there, click Smart Areas Assignment on the left-hand side, and choose one (1) of four (4) available Smart Areas. If you are not using Smart Area Partitions on your 2GIG Edge, then just set it to S1 for Partition 1. If you want to use Emergency Keys (Police & Fire) with the 2GIG PAD1-345, and you have keypad panics enabled on the panel, then click on the option on the left-hand side, and set the Emergency Keys option to Enabled.

Lastly, you can set the Voice Descriptor if desired. This will serve as the name for the keypad. This may be helpful if you have multiple remote keypads in use, so that you can tell one from another. Click on the option on the left-hand side, then press the blue "Edit Voice Descriptor" button. You can then use the on-screen keypad to set the Voice Descriptor, one word at a time. When you are finished setting the desired descriptor, press the blue "Done" button in the bottom-right corner.

Continue to the next step once all the keypad zone settings are correct.

3. Return home. All the settings you have configured will be saved automatically. Once you are sure that everything is correct, return home by repeatedly pressing the blue return arrow in the upper-right corner of the screen. Once you exit programming, verify that the keypad is working properly.
