How do I add a 5834-4 keyfob to my Honeywell Lyric?
The Lyric Security System supports nearly all of Honeywell’s 5800 series devices with the exception of a few bi-directional devices, such as the 5828/5828V. The 5834-4 can be programmed to arm/disarm the Lyric, and provide a panic response, if desired. There are 32 dedicated keyfob zones, from 131 - 162. By default zones 131 - 138 are pre-configured as fob zones (2 4-button fobs). If you will have more than 32 fob loop inputs, the panel will begin utilizing zones 130 and lower for these. It is best to use the "Add New" button in "Keys" programming, and allowing the panel to choose available zone numbers based on the number of fob buttons selected.
The 5834-4 has 2 serial numbers, the serial number displayed on the sticker located on the back of the device, and a 2nd serial number that is 1 digit higher than the first. For example, if the sticker shows a serial number of 0012345, the 2nd serial number would be 0012346. If you want to use both serial numbers, you should treat this as an 8 button fob when programming.
Enter programming: Security > Tools > Installer Code (default is 4112) > Program > Keys > Add New. Under Key Type, press until you see either Key Fob (4 button) or Key Fob 8 button. Select a User for the fob to be associated to. Press the section marked “Serial Number” then transmit with any single button on the fob. The serial number and the loop number you pressed will be displayed. Press the same button again to confirm the serial number and return you to the fob programming screen. Based on the image above, choose what function you want each of your 4 or 8 buttons to perform. Press Save when finished.
The 5834-4 comes from the factory in High Security Mode. To tell what mode it’s in, press any button for 2 seconds. If the LED at the top of the fob lights Red, it’s in High Security Mode. If it lights Green, it’s in Standard Mode, and no further configuration is required. In order to work with the Lyric in High Security Mode, the 5834-4 and the Lyric need to be “synced”. To do this, put the panel into Go-no-Go test mode by entering: Security > Tools > Installer Code (default is 4112) > Test > Go-no-Go test. On the Fob, press the A, B, and C buttons at once to sync serial number 1 with the Lyric. You’ll hear a 4 beep tone from the panel to let you know they’ve synced. Press A, B, and D buttons at once to sync serial number 2 (if using the 8 button option).
