How Do I Add a Key Fob to an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
You can add a key fob to an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 by putting the system into its learn mode and then activating the key fob. The panel will recognize the key fob and learn it in with the system. The settings for the key fob will then need to be adjusted so that it works properly.
Complete the following steps to add an Interlogix Micro Key Fob with an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 Alarm System:
1. Access programming. Start from the main screen of the Simon XTi or XTi-5 System. Click the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the screen to access the settings menu. Then scroll down to "Programming", and click the "Enter" button that is next to it. You must then provide the system's Installer Code. The default Installer Code is 4321. Press the "OK" button once you have entered in the code. If the code was entered successfully, you will access system programming.
2. Add the key fob. Choose the option "Sensors". Then choose "Add Sensor". The message "Trip New Sensor" will be displayed on the screen. This indicates that the Simon XTi or XTi-5 System is now in its learn mode.
Take the Interlogix Micro Key Fob and press and hold down its top two buttons simultaneously. These are the device's lock and unlock buttons. Continue to hold these buttons until the device is recognized. The panel should beep once it successfully recognizes the device. The panel will then display a menu where various settings and configurations for the key fob can be adjusted.
3. Configure the device. For the Interlogix Micro Key Fob, the sensor group should be set to 01. This will ensure that the device functions properly. For more information on sensor groups, please consult pages 5-6 of the Interlogix Simon XTi Installation Manual.
You can also use this opportunity to provide a name for the sensor, assign a sensor number and enter in an optional product code. Once all the settings have been adjusted, click the "Save" button in the upper-right corner of the screen to save the changes. You can then press the "Close" button in the upper-right corner of the screen to return to the system's home screen.
4. Test the key fob. Use the key fob to arm and disarm the system. If you can use the key fob to successfully arm and disarm the system, then it was programmed properly.
