How Do I Add a LiftMaster 8500W to Alarm.com?

You can add a LiftMaster 8500W to Alarm.com by first having your monitoring company enable the LiftMaster feature on your Alarm.com account. You can then pair the 8500W Garage Door Controller with your account using the customer-facing website. You will need the Serial Number for the 8500W.

The MyQ integration for Alarm.com is extremely useful. By pairing your MyQ Garage Door Controller with Alarm.com, you can access the platform at any time to open or close your garage door. You can also use the MyQ device with smart scenes for added flexibility and control. This is extremely convenient if you want to have your garage door open or close automatically based on a set schedule or with certain system events.

Before mounting the LiftMaster 8500W, it is strongly recommended that you take a picture of the MyQ Serial Number and Product Serial Number sticker located beneath the flip-up front cover. You will need the MyQ Serial Number to pair the device with your Alarm.com account. If you have already mounted the device and you did not save this information, the MyQ S/N should be displayed on your smartphone when you connect the 8500W to WIFI. This device will only connect through a 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n network. It will not recognize a 5 GHz WIFI network.

The LiftMaster 8500W is fairly unique, as it is actually side-mounted by your garage door controller rather than ceiling-mounted. But it can be integrated with Alarm.com just like any other MyQ Garage Door Controller. The steps below assume that you have already installed your LiftMaster 8500W Garage Door Controller and that you have already connected it to your local WIFI network using the MyQ App on your Android or iOS device. Complete the following steps to add a LiftMaster 8500W to your Alarm.com account:

1. Enable the LiftMaster integration. The MyQ integration is a special feature on Alarm.com that can only be enabled by an alarm monitoring company. Alarm Grid will enable this feature for any Alarm.com user at no additional charge. Please note that you will need a Gold Plan or higher to start using Alarm.com.

2. Access the Alarm.com website. Use a web browser to access the Alarm.com website. Then provide your account information to login to Alarm.com. This process can not be completed on the Alarm.com customer app.

3. Begin the integration. Click on the Settings button on the left side of the screen. Then under Automation Devices, select LiftMaster Installation. Then follow the instructions on the screen to add your LiftMaster Gateway.

4. Provide the Serial Number. You will need to provide the MyQ Serial Number for your LiftMaster 8500W to complete the integration. The MyQ Serial Number can be found on the garage door controller on the same side as the wiring terminals for the device. Please note that the MyQ Serial Number is different than the Product Serial Number. You should find the Serial Number with the MyQ Logo next to it. Alarm.com will begin adding the 8500W device to your Alarm.com account after the MyQ Serial Number has been provided.

Please Note: In order to control the LiftMaster 8500W remotely, the MyQ Remote LED Light must be installed and used with the system. If it is not, even though you will be able to see the Garage Door in the Alarm.com App, you will not be able to control it.
