How Do I Add Users to My DSC Alarm System on Alarm.com?
You can add users to your DSC Alarm System on Alarm.com by logging into Alarm.com, navigating to the Users Menu, clicking the Add User button, providing the necessary information, and pressing the Save button. The information will be automatically pushed down to your DSC Security System.
Alarm.com is an interactive service platform that is commonly used with DSC Security Panels. In order to access the service, the DSC System must have an Alarm.com-compatible cellular communicator installed and activated with an alarm monitoring company. The user will need an alarm monitoring plan that includes cellular connectivity and access to Alarm.com. For Alarm Grid customers, this is a Gold level plan or higher.
When you make changes on Alarm.com, such as adding a new system user, the changes will be automatically pushed down to the DSC System. The panel will update on its own after receiving the information. You will need to have access to Alarm.com for this to work. This requires knowing your Alarm.com username and password. Please note that each DSC System can only support a finite number of user codes.
In our example, we will be using a DSC Impassa. However, this process will work for any DSC Alarm System that is connected with Alarm.com. Complete the following steps to add a new user to your DSC Alarm System on Alarm.com:
1. Login to Alarm.com. On a web browser, go to Alarm.com. Then provide your username and password to login.
2. Start adding the user. From the main screen, choose the Users tab on the left. Then press the Add User button at the top on the right. This will take you to a screen where you can add a new user.
3. Provide the information. Enter in the First Name and Last Name you want to associate with the user. Then choose their Language Preference. Then add Contact Information (Text and/or Email) if desired. Finally, choose their Access Control Settings.
In our example, our new user will have a First Name of "Alarm". They will have a Last Name of "Grid". Their Language Preference will be "English". They will have Contact Information of a Mobile Number (SMS) and an Email Address. The Mobile Number will be the Alarm Grid support phone number of (888) 818-7728. The Country is USA. We set the provider to MetroPCS. The Email Address will be our support email of support@alarmgrid.com. We chose an Email Format of HTML. The Access Code will be 1111. Please note that you will not be able to continue until every field is filled out. If you do not want to be contacted, do not add a Mobile Number or Email Address.
Once you have finished, press the Save button at the bottom.
4. Test the code. After you finish, you can log out of Alarm.com. Then try testing the new code at the panel by arming and disarming. It may take a few moments for the information to get pushed down. If you can arm and disarm using the new code, then the new user was added successfully.
