How Do I Change the Master Code of a Qolsys IQ Panel 4?
At the IQ Panel 4 touch the grey bar at the top of the home screen. Next, select settings > advanced settings > enter Master/Installer/Dealer Code (default 1234/1111/2222) > User Management. Then, select the pencil to the right of the Master code. Enter the new code, confirm, and save.
The Master code on the IQ Panel 4 has access to all user-related features and settings, WIFI setup, sound settings, sensor customization, and user management. The Admin or Master Code is usually assigned to owners or managers of a protected location. Many codes might be labeled "Master", but there is only one (1) true Master Code. This is referred to as the "Admin" code and is identified as ID 1 in the user list. This code is typically assigned to the main owner of the premises. At times these codes may need to be changed. Only the Installer Code, Dealer Code, or the existing Admin Code can be used to change this code or to add another Master code. Other non-admin master codes can add/edit secondary users or guest codes.
Follow the steps below to change the Master Code:
1. Access User Management. Start from the main screen of the IQ Panel 4. Click on the small grey bar at the top of the screen. Choose Settings > Advanced Settings > enter the Installer Code, Dealer Code, or an existing Admin Master Code (defaults are 1111, 2222, and 1234, respectively) > User Management. You will access the User Management Menu.
2. Change the Code. Locate the Master Code you want to change. You will know that a code is a Master Code because it will have "Master" listed as its "Type". If you are logged in as the Admin user, you will have access to see and change your own code as well as any secondary codes, including secondary Master Codes. If you are using a Master Code, but not the system Admin, you will only have access to your own Master Code, and any other secondary codes that exist on the system. Once you have found the appropriate code to change, click on the pencil icon for that code slot on the right side of the screen. You will then access the sub-menu for that code.
Within the sub-menu, click on the User Code field to begin editing the code. Depending on the system settings, the code can be either four (4) or six (6) digits. Click the green confirm button in the bottom-right corner of the on-screen keypad once the desired code is entered. Then enter the same code in the "Confirm User Code" field.
Once both the User Code and Confirm User Code fields match with the same desired code, click the green confirm button in the bottom-right corner, followed by the hide keypad button, which is also in the bottom-right corner. Then press the "Save" button to save the changes. The code will be changed.
3. Return to the Main Menu. Press the picture of the house at the bottom of the screen. This will take you back to the home screen for the IQ Panel 4.
The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 is a 7" capacitive glass touchscreen All-In-One panel with a built-in camera for optional disarm images. The panel comes in black or white, and in different variations of each color, or as we refer to them here at Alarm Grid, different flavors. The various flavors allow the user to install a new feature-rich wireless panel without having to replace all of the previous system's wireless sensors.
Flavors include the 319.5 Mhz (Qolsys/GE/Interlogix) sensors. Both the original Interlogix or Qolsys non-encrypted variety and the Qolsys S-Line encrypted sensors are supported. There is also a version to support the 345 Mhz (Honeywell/2gig) unencrypted and uni-directional sensors and a version for the older 433 Mhz DSC sensors. All three (3) flavors will also support 915 MHz PowerG frequency sensors. There is also an IQ Panel 4 version that supports PowerG only. This version is available only in white.
The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 is a highly advanced security panel and automation controller. It features an 8 MP front-facing camera for optional disarm photos, optional automatic Bluetooth disarming, support for up to four (4) partitions, live streaming of Alarm.com video cameras to the panel, including the video doorbell, Z-Wave Plus V2 (700 Series) and support for 128 zones, with 242 users.
