How Do I Change a Master User Code On an L7000?

Honeywell’s Lynx Touch L7000 has a full 7” color screen with graphic icons that make it easy to navigate through programming.

To change the master user code on the Honeywell Lynx Touch L7000, start by having the system in the disarmed mode. Select the “Security” icon on the home screen. Select “More”. Select “Tools”. Enter the existing four (4) digit master user code. The system will display the programming screen. Select “Users”, the users screen will appear. Select “Master”, then select “Edit”. Select “User Code”. Enter the new 4 (four) digit master user code. Select “Save”. Press the return icon to return to the home screen.

You can also reset the Master Code on an L7000 back to its default of 1234. To do this, you will need to know the panel's Installer Code. Start from the home screen of the panel. Choose Security > More > Tools > enter in the Installer Code (default is 4112) > Program > Reset Master Code > Yes. This will reset the Master Code for the panel.

If you are locked out of programming on your L7000 System, you can get back in using the backdoor method.

It sounds like you are probably using the Installer Code to arm/disarm at the panel instead of the Master Code. I imagine you have your key fob mapped to the Master Code and for security reasons, if you arm with the Master Code, you wouldn't be able to disarm with the Installer Code. If you press Tools and enter the code you've been using to arm/disarm at the panel and you see Program as an option, that would confirm you are using the Installer Code and not the Master Code.
When I arm the L7000 at the panel, I can disarm it from the keyfob. However, when I arm it from the keyfob, I cannot disarm it from the panel. Is this supposed to happen?
