How Do I Change the Battery in My Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
You can change the battery in your Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 by opening up the panel, unplugging the old battery and plugging in the new one. The new backup battery should snap securely into place. The AC transformer for the system should be unplugged when you are changing the battery.
The backup battery for a Simon XTi or XTi-5 System has a lifespan of roughly three to five years. After this time, the backup battery will need to be replaced with a new one. The system will display a warning when the backup battery is low and in need of replacing. We recommend replacing the backup battery as soon as possible to prevent any power loss to the system.
Complete the following steps to change the backup battery for an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 System:
1. Open up the panel. Start by unplugging the AC transformer for the system from the wall. Then Remove the panel's outer trim ring. Then lift up on the two tabs located on the front of the panel at the top and pull the panel away from the back cover and swing it open.
2. Remove the old battery. The backup battery for the Simon XTi or XTi-5 System should be a green battery pack that plugs into the panel. Unplug this connection, and then gently remove the backup battery from the system.
3. Install the new battery. Secure the new backup battery in the same location as the old one. It should snap securely into place. Then plug the new battery into the panel. Make sure the connection is secure.
4. Close the panel. Swing the panel front back into place. Then reapply the outer trim. Finally, plug the AC transformer back into the wall to restore AC power to the system. Make sure that any low battery warnings are removed once the system is fully powered on. It may take some time for the new battery to receive a sufficient charge to clear the low battery message. It should clear within a few hours.
