How Do I Change the Date/Time On a 2GIG Edge?
You can change the date/time on a 2GIG Edge by accessing the Date & Time Menu, setting the desired date and time, and pressing Set to apply the change. But if the system is monitored, then Alarm.com will override the setting and push down the date/time based on the Alarm.com account.
Changing the date and time on a 2GIG Edge is very easy. You just access the Date & Time Menu using either the Installer Code (default 1561) or the Master Code (default 1111, but usually changed), and then press Set. This will apply the change. However, if the system is monitored through Alarm.com, then Alarm.com will automatically push down the date and time based on the Time Zone that is set on the Alarm.com account. You can still technically change the date and time from the Date & Time Menu, but it's pretty pointless, as Alarm.com will push down its own date/time within minutes. The best option for a monitored account is to change the Time Zone on the Alarm.com account, as that will have Alarm.com push down a different date/time to the panel.
If your 2GIG Edge is not monitored, then you can complete the steps below to change the date and time. You can still do this if the system is monitored, but the adjusted date/time will revert back to what is set from Alarm.com, usually within a few minutes.
1. Access Date & Time Menu. Begin from the main screen of the 2GIG Edge. Click the settings icon (the gear) in the bottom-right corner. Enter in the Installer Code (default 1561) or the Master Code (default 1111, but usually changed. Click on the option for Date & Time. You will enter the Date & Time Menu.
2. Change Date and Time. On the left, you can set the hour and minute, as well as whether it is AM or PM. On the right, you can set the month, the day of the month, and the year. Go ahead and make the changes as desired. Continue once the desired date and time have been entered.
3. Apply the change. Click the green "Set" button in the bottom-right to apply the date and time. This will confirm your selections. Note that no on-screen indication will be made to indicate that the change was successful. There will just be a normal panel beep to confirm entry.
4. Return home. With the date and time changed, you can now return to the home screen. Do this by pressing the picture of the house in the bottom-right corner, or by repeatedly pressing the return arrow in the upper-left corner.
If your 2GIG Edge System is monitored, then you can access your Alarm.com account through the website to set the Time Zone for the system. This will change the time that is pushed down to the panel. To adjust the Time Zone on your Alarm.com account, complete the following steps:
1. Access Alarm.com account. Using a compatible web browser, access the Alarm.com website, and click the Login button in the upper-right corner of the page. Provide your username and password, and click the Login button. Complete any two-factor authentication (2FA) if it is enabled on your account. You should then be logged into your Alarm.com account.
2. Access Account Management Menu. On the left-hand side of the screen, choose Settings. Once you are in the Settings Menu, select Account Management. You will enter the Account Management Menu.
3. Change the Time Zone. In the Account Management menu, choose the sub-menu for System Information. On this screen, you should see the option for Time Zone. Click on that field to access a dropdown menu with all the available Time Zones. Select the Time Zone that you want to use. Then press the blue Update button on the right-hand side to apply the change.
4. Logout and confirm change. Press the grey Log Out button in the lower-left corner to logout of Alarm.com. Then go to your 2GIG Edge Panel to confirm that the time has been updated. It may take a few minutes for the change to be applied.
If the change hasn't been applied automatically after a few minutes, then you can try to speed up the process by powering down the panel and then powering it back on. To power down, open up the panel and disconnect its backup battery, and then drop AC power by unplugging the panel's transformer or by turning power off at the circuit breaker. Wait a few seconds, and then power the panel back on by plugging in its battery first, and then restoring AC power second. The panel should power back on once the plug-in transformer is plugged back in, or you restore power at the circuit breaker. When the panel boots back up, the updated time should appear.
If you are still having trouble setting the time, then reach out to your monitoring provider for further assistance. Alarm Grid customers can email support@alarmgrid.com to receive help. Note that our support hours are from 9 am to 8 pm ET M-F.
