How do I check the revision on my VISTA 15P panel?
In order to use Total Connect 2.0, or any of AlarmNet's modern online, cloud-based products, your VISTA 15P's PROM chip revision must be 9.12. Anything earlier will not be compatible with Total Connect 2.0, which means that you will not be able to turn your system on and off from away, control home automation remotely, or take advantage of the many additional features that Total Connect has to offer.
Checking the current revision of your panel is very simple. There is a 1 inch by 1 inch chip on the board of each and every 15P. If you can locate the chip, simply read the numbers off of it that appear after the words and letters "WA15P". These numbers will indicate the revision of the panel. Below is a picture of the 15P's 9.12 chipset.
As you can see, the numbers 9.12 appear on this chipset twice. Likewise, if your chipset is an earlier revision, you will see the a different number on each of these chips. Replacing the chips is easy. Power the system down and simply pop out the old one and put a new 9.12 revision chip in its place. Once that is accomplished, feel free to sign up for Alarm Grid's home security, alarm monitoring plans!
