How Do I Control a Honeywell L5200 Remotely?
You can control a Honeywell L5200 remotely by using Total Connect 2.0. This is a useful interactive service platform specifically designed for use with Honeywell Alarm Control Panels. You can access the Total Connect 2.0 service platform remotely using your iOS or Android Smartphone.
Total Connect 2.0 allows users to control their Honeywell Systems in many different ways. By accessing the service, a user can arm and disarm their panel, check the status of sensors, control smart home devices if automation is enabled, view Total Connect IP Cameras, and more.
In order to connect with the AlarmNet360 Servers and Total Connect 2.0, the Honeywell L5200 must have an IP or cellular communication path established. This requires the appropriate communicator. All of the cellular communicators for the L5200 have been discontinued, but they can still be activated and used as long as the associated cellular network continues to work. One example of a compatible communicator is the Honeywell 3GL.
However, there is still an IP communicator available for the L5200. That communicator is the Honeywell L5100-WIFI. This module allows a compatible Honeywell LYNX Touch System to connect to a local WIFI network. This way, it can communicate outward and send signals to AlarmNet360. Also keep in mind that the user will need an alarm monitoring plan that includes access to Total Connect 2.0.
Once a user has everything in place, they can use the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App on their Android or iOS device to control their Honeywell L5200 System remotely. If you want to access Total Connect 2.0 for your L5200, complete the following steps:
1. Prepare the system. You will need an IP or cellular communicator for the L5200 so that it can communicate with the AlarmNet360 Servers. Make sure a compatible IP or cellular communicator has been installed.
2. Get alarm monitoring. You will need to activate your L5200 with an alarm monitoring company, such as Alarm Grid. Make sure the monitoring plan you select includes access to Total Connect 2.0.
3. Join Total Connect 2.0. You alarm monitoring company will send you the resources you need to create a Total Connect 2.0 account. Follow the steps outlined in the email to create your account.
4. Access Total Connect 2.0. Open the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App on your Android or iOS device. If you do not have the mobile app, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Once you have opened the app, login using the account information you created in Step 3. You can now control your L5200 System remotely.
