How Do I Delete a Zone From My Honeywell Home PROA7?
You can delete a zone from your Honeywell Home PROA7 by entering into the Tools Menu, choosing Programming, then Peripherals, then finding the zone you want to delete and checking the box to the right of it, then pressing Delete in the top-right, and then confirming the zone deletion.
Both the Honeywell Home PROA7 and the Resideo PROA7C follow the same process for zone deletion. After you delete a zone, it will be available and open so that you can program a new sensor in its place. Both the PROA7 and PROA7C have 250 total zones, so deleting a zone may be a good idea if you are running out of space. Remember that of these 250 zones, 127 are for encrypted PROSIX and SiX Series Sensors, while the other 123 are for legacy sensors. The legacy zones can only be accessed and used if you have added a PROTAKEOVER Module to the system. You may also delete a zone simply because you no longer want to use an existing sensor with the system. Once you delete a zone, the action cannot be undone, and you will need to reprogram the sensor from scratch if you want to continue using it. Any Zone Number can be used with an encrypted sensor or a legacy sensor, as long as you do not exceed 127 encrypted sensors or 123 legacy sensors. New sensors are assigned Zone Numbers in the order in which they are enrolled.
Please note, you can only delete a zone yourself if you have access to local end-user programming. As of May 2021, local end-user programming is still in beta development, and it is not yet available for ProSeries Panels. However, Resideo insists that the feature will be arriving in the near future as part of a major firmware update. Without access to local programming, all zone programming, including zone deletion, must be handled remotely by the user's alarm monitoring provider. If you need to delete a zone, and you do not have local programming, then you should ask your monitoring company for help. For the remainder of this FAQ, we will assume that end-user programming feature is available.
Complete the following steps to delete a zone from a PROA7 or PROA7C:
1. Enter programming. For this FAQ, we are assuming that the PROA7 or PROA7C ProSeries Alarm System has received the proper firmware update to support local end-user programming. First, you must enter into programming. Begin from the main system screen. Press the three horizontal bars menu button at the bottom. Then choose Tools. Enter the panel's Installer Code, which is 4112 by default. Then pick Programming. You will enter into Programming.
2. Delete the zone. Once you are in Programming, select the option for Peripherals. All of the programmed system zones will appear in a list. Find the zone you want to delete. You may need to scroll down if there are many zones. Once you have found the zone, press the checkbox on its right-hand side. The clear box will turn blue with a white checkmark to indicate that the zone has been selected. If you want to delete multiple zones, then you can check the box for each zone you want to delete. Once you have selected the zone(s), press the Delete button in the top-right. The system will confirm that you want to delete the selected zone(s). Press the black Delete button on the right-hand side. Any selected zone will be deleted.
Remember, the Delete button in the upper-right corner of the Peripherals Menu will only appear once you select at least one (1) zone. If no zones are selected, then the Refresh, Plus (+), and Filter buttons will occupy the spot where the Delete button will be. If you are wondering why there is no Delete button in the upper-right corner of the Peripherals Menu, then you might want to make sure that you have selected at least one zone first!
3. Return home. Now that you have deleted the zone(s), you can return to the home screen. Start by clicking the return arrow (<) in the upper-left corner. Then press the return arrow a second time to exit Programming. Then click the System Status icon in the bottom-right corner to be taken back to the home screen. You can always skip right to the home screen by pressing the System Status icon on any screen where it is displayed.
