How Do I Disable Chime on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?
You can disable chime on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 from the main settings menu of the system. First, click on the gear icon in the bottom-right corner of the main screen. Then press the "Off" button next to the chime option. Then press the "Close" button in the upper-right corner.
The chime feature instructs the system to make a chime sound whenever a protected sensor is activated while the system is disarmed. However, if the system is armed, the typical result will either be an alarm/siren or the system requiring a disarm within its entry delay period. Chimes aren't really system events, but they are used to let a user know about common sensor activity.
The most common application of the chime feature is to have the panel chime whenever a door is opened. This will quickly let the user know about the activity. Whether or not a sensor will activate a chime is determined by its programming settings. These can be changed from system programming at any time.
Complete the following steps to disable chime on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5 System:
1. Open system settings. Start from the main screen of the Simon XTi or XTi-5 System. Click the gear icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. You will enter the system settings menu.
2. Disable the chime. Within the settings menu, locate the "Chime" option. Next to this option, there will be two options. These are "On" and "Off". To disable the chime, you must press "Off". You will know that you have pressed it because the "Off" button will become yellow in color.
3. Exit system settings. Press the "Close" button in the upper-right corner of the screen. This will exit system settings and return you to the home screen. Any changes that were made will be saved automatically.
