Can I turn on/off the loud 5834-4 arm beep on a L5200?
By default when you use a Honeywell 5834-4 wireless security key fob to arm/disarm the Honeywell L5200 LYNX Touch wireless alarm system it produces a very loud audible beep from the panel sounder. It is setup this way to allow for remote arming outside your home or business. When arming outside the audible beep confirms the arming/disarming of the panel.
We have heard complaints about this noise being too loud and/or totally unwanted. Fortunately, there is a way to adjust the volume on the arm confirm sound for the key fob and disable the sound. However you will need to change the 'Arm Confirm' selection in 'Sounder' settings.
Enter panel programming and select the sounder settings: Security + More (bottom right) + Tools + Enter Installer Code (default: 4112) + Program + Down Key + Sounder.
The 'Arm Confirm' field is set to 'RF Key Fob' by default. By keeping the setting here it will produce the loud beep designed to notify a user remotely that that the system received the command. Unfortunately, there is no way to adjust this volume. The 'All RF' selection will produce the same results as the 'RF Key Fob.'
When set to 'RF Keypad' or 'None' the panel will still confirm the arming as it normally does but at an adjustable volume. In fact, both selections will use the volume settings that are accessible on the home screen. So if you would like to have some audible notification but do not not like getting your ear drums blown out these two options are ideal. Fyi - both options offer the same result for the key fob but the 'RF Keypad' is designed to confirm arming from a remote wireless keypad such as the Honeywell 5828 fixed english keypad.
For those that wish to have no audible notification at all you will have to lower the volume all the way down in the home screen settings (gear icon). This volume will affect system wide operations such as arming from the keypad, button presses on the touchscreen and chimes on faults.
