How Do I Enable the Panel Glass Break on an IQ Panel 4?
Enable the IQ Panel 4's built-in glass break detector by clicking the grey tab at the top of the home screen. Then select settings > advanced settings > Enter Installer/Dealer Code (default 1111/2222) > Installation > Installer/Dealer settings. Then search or scroll for Panel Glass Break Detector.
The Qolsys IQ Panel 4 is a 7" All-In-One touchscreen alarm system. It supports 128 zones and 242 users. The panel can be purchased in black or white, and comes in different "flavors", so you can continue to use current RF sensors when replacing an existing wireless panel.
What we refer to as "flavors" are the various legacy RF receiver options available for the IQ Panel 4. These include the 319.5 MHz (Qolsys/GE/Interlogix) flavor, 345 MHz (Honeywell/2gig) flavor, and 433 MHz (DSC) flavor. All three (3) panel flavors that offer legacy RF receivers also support the 915 MHz PowerG frequency sensors. In addition, there is a PowerG-only IQ Panel 4 version that does not offer legacy receiver support. In addition to panel color and receiver options, each IQ Panel 4 comes with either a Verizon or an AT&T LTE communicator built in.
To enable the IQ Panel 4 glass break detector, follow the steps below.
1. Access Installer or Dealer settings. From the home screen of the IQ4, click the grey tab at the top of the home screen. Then select Settings > Advanced Settings > Installer/Dealer Code (default 1111/2222) > Installation > Installer/Dealer settings.
2. Enable Panel Glass Break. On the Installer or Dealer settings page, you have two options to find the setting. One is to click "search settings" and type in a search word to find "Panel Glass Break Detector". Another option is to scroll down to the "Auto Learn" section. Then, a few options down the list, you will find the "Panel Glass Break Detector" option. To enable the option, select the checkbox to the right.
3. Save the zone settings. The IQ4 will next take you to the zone settings. You can only adjust the sensor group (13 or 17 only) or sensitivity level between normal and low. No other fields are editable. Click "Save" to finalize. This will add the zone to the next available slot in the zone list.
4. Exit. Click the home icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the panel's home screen.
For proper glass break detection, the panel must be wall-mounted, not desk-mounted. It must also be connected to the DC power adapter. Operating the panel on battery only does not support the use of this feature. The IQ4 Panel Glass Break detector can detect different types of framed glass breakage, including tempered, plated, and insulated with a minimum dimension of 12" X 12" (30.5mm x 30.5mm). The IQ4 will detect glass breaking from 3' - 15' (.9m to 4.5m) away from the wall-mounted panel with no obstacles between the panel and the protected glass. Information on panel testing, including how to test the built-in glass break sensor, can be found here.
