How Do I Find the Serial Number on a Honeywell 5800PIR-RES?

You can find the Serial Number on a Honeywell 5800PIR-RES by checking the white sticker on the back. If the sticker has been removed, or if you want to confirm the Serial Number, then you can try auto-enrolling the sensor with a panel. This will display the Serial Number on the screen.

The Honeywell 5800PIR-RES is a wireless motion detection sensor that is part of the Honeywell 5800 Series. It operates at 345 MHz, and it will work with compatible security systems. As part of enrolling the sensor, the user will need to provide its Serial Number. This is necessary for having the panel properly recognize the sensor. The Serial Number for the sensor can be entered manually, or the sensor can be auto-enrolled to populate the code automatically.

If you just need to quickly obtain the Serial Number, the easiest option might be to just check the white sticker on the back. The Serial Number is the 7-digit code found underneath a bar code. You can see an example in the picture below:

If the sticker has been removed, or if you want to confirm it, then you can auto-enroll the sensor to check the Serial Number. This process will vary depending on the type of panel that is being used. However, it is fairly similar across most wireless Honeywell Systems. In fact, the Honeywell Lyric System and all of the LYNX Touch Panels essentially follow the same process.

You will need to provide the Installer Code to complete this process. If you are using a Honeywell System, the default Installer Code is usually 4112. If you are using a 2GIG System, the default Installer Code is 1561. If you are using a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus with Honeywell Daughtercard, the default Installer Code is 1111.

1. Enter Zone Programming. Start from the main screen of the L5210. Choose Security > More > Tools > Installer Code (default 4112) > Program > Zones. You will now be in Zone Programming.

2. Enter wireless enrollment mode. Press Add New at the bottom of the screen. Then choose the Serial Number field in the upper-left. This will put the panel into its wireless enrollment mode for learning-in sensors.

3. Obtain the Serial Number. Activate the sensor by waving your hand in front of the lens. The panel will beep to confirm that it has recognized the sensor. Then do this a second time. The panel will beep twice, and the Serial Number will be displayed on the screen. This can be seen in the picture below. If you activate the sensor a third time, the panel will beep three times, and you will be taken back to the previous screen.

4. Finish programming and exit. If you want, you can configure the rest of the settings for the zone. Once you have finished, press the Save button in the lower-right corner to save your changes. Then repeatedly press the return arrow in the upper-right corner to save your changes. Make sure to choose Yes when asked if you want to allow the installer to re-enter programming.
