How Do I Install a 2GIG SMKT3-345?

You can install a 2GIG SMKT3-345 by choosing an installation spot, installing the mounting plate and then attaching the device to the mounting plate. The device includes screws and wall anchors for installing the mounting plate. However, you will need a drill to create holes for the screws.

Complete the following steps to install a 2GIG SMKT3-345:

1. Choose a location. Some spots represent more effective locations for smoke detectors than others. We recommend placing smoke detectors in bedrooms, hallways and central areas where they can alert building occupants to the presence of a fire. They should be placed away from any vents, ducts or kitchen appliances that may interfere with their performance. 2. Install the mounting plate. The SMKT3-345 comes with a mounting plate for installing the device. Hold the mounting plate up against the wall or ceiling, and mark the location for the holes that will be drilled. Then use a drill to create the holes. Make sure to accommodate for the wall anchors that will support the screws. After drilling the holes, screw the mounting plate onto the wall or ceiling using the provides screws and wall anchors.

3. Attach the device. Secure the SMKT3-345 to the mounting plate by holding the device over the mounting plate and then turning it clockwise to latch it into place. The SMKT3-345 will need to be aligned properly over the mounting plate when doing this. You should hear a distinct "click" to ensure that the SMKT3-345 has been secured to the mounting plate. You will need to remove the SMKT3-345 from its mounting plate whenever you go to change the batteries for the device.
