How Do I Program a Motion to Arm In Stay Mode on my Honeywell L5210, L7000?
You can program a motion to arm in stay mode on a Honeywell L5210 or L7000 by setting its Response Type to "Perimeter". This can be done from the Zone Programming menu of the system. By making this selection, the motion detector will become armed in both arm away and arm stay modes.
By default, a motion detector will have its Response Type set to one of the "Interior" options. This will cause the sensor to not become armed when the system is set to armed stay. The idea behind this is that the motion detector will be placed inside of the protected premises, and the user will not want the motion to be set off when they walk past it. However, if a user wants to have a motion arm in both arm away and arm stay modes, they can set its Response Type to "Perimeter".
Please note that this is also possible by setting the Response Type to "Entry Exit 1" or by enabling the Night Stay option. To set the Response Type to "Entry Exit 1", you must have the Device Type set to "Other". If you have the Device Type set to "Motion Sensor", then the Response Type for "Entry Exit 1" will not be available.
To enable the Night Stay option, set the Device Type to "Motion Sensor". Then set the Response Type to one of the "Interior" zone types. Then press the down arrow on the right side of the screen. You will see an option for "Arm Night". Click on this field to toggle between "Yes" and "No". You will want the option set to "Yes" to enable the Night Stay option. Then click "Save" in the bottom-right corner of the screen. When you go to Arm Stay, there will be a selection for Arm Night. Select this option when arming to have the Lynx Touch go into Night Stay mode so that the motion is armed.
Complete the following steps to program a motion to arm in stay mode by setting the Response Type to "Perimeter":
1. Program the motion. Learn-in the motion in the same way that you would program any other wireless sensor. Once the sensor has been enrolled, you will be able to proceed with making changes to its settings.
2. Access the zone settings. From the home screen of the panel, go to Security > More > Tools > enter installer code (default is 4112) > Program > Zones. You will now be at the Zone Programming Menu. Locate the motion detector you want to configure. You may need to use the up and down arrows on the right side of the screen to do this. Once you have found the zone with the motion detector, click on it to highlight it. Then select "Edit" in the bottom-left corner of the screen. You will now be at the zone settings screen.
3. Adjust the settings. Locate the field for "Response Type" and click on it. Choose "Perimeter". Make sure all of the other fields are correct. Once you have finished, click "Save" in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Your motion detector will now become armed when the panel is set to arm stay mode.
4. Return to the main screen. Press the return arrow in the upper-left portion of the screen until you return to the main screen of the panel. Be sure to select "Yes" when you are asked if you want to allow the installer to re-enter programming.
