How Do I Program a VERSA-2GIG to a Honeywell Lyric Controller?
You can program a VERSA-2GIG to a Honeywell Lyric Controller by putting the Lyric into its auto-enrollment mode and then activating the sensor three (3) times. After auto-enrolling, the sensor's Serial Number will be displayed. You must then adjust the zone settings and save the changes.
The VERSA-2GIG is a wireless door and window sensor that operates at the same frequency as the 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. The Lyric Panel can support the VERSA-2GIG after receiving the MR3 Firmware Update. This is the same firmware update that is required for the Lyric to support most 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. We recommend updating your Lyric System to the latest firmware if you have not already.
It's also worth mentioning that you can identify the VERSA-2GIG Door and Window Sensor by its distinctive inner yellow board. If the interior board is a different color, then it is not actually a VERSA-2GIG. However, if the board is red, then it is actually a Honeywell 5800MINI Door and Window Sensor. This sensor is also compatible with the Honeywell Lyric Alarm System, and will program to the system in the same way.
The VERSA-2GIG Sensor is extremely common and very versatile. It is actually the sensor included with many of the Honeywell Lyric System Kits sold by Alarm Grid. When auto-enrolling the VERSA-2GIG Sensor with the Lyric, make sure that a fresh lithium 3V CR2032 coin battery has been installed. Without a battery, the sensor will have no way of sending wireless transmissions to the system. This is required for auto-enrollment. Please note that a new VERSA-2GIG Sensor will come with the battery pre-installed.
Complete the following steps to program a VERSA-2GIG to a Honeywell Lyric Controller:
1. Enter Lyric auto-enroll mode. Start from the main screen of your Lyric Panel. Choose Security > Tools > enter Installer Code (default 4112) > Program > Zones > Add New > Serial Number. The Lyric will now be in its listening mode for auto-enrolling new sensors. Make sure the RF Type on the right-hand side of the screen is set to 5800.
2. Auto-enroll the sensor. Fault and restore the VERSA-2GIG Sensor three (3) times to get it to learn-in automatically. You can fault and restore the sensor by aligning the larger sensor with its smaller magnet, then separating the sensor and magnet, then bringing them back together. In other words, you are basically just clicking the sensor and magnet together three times. If the sensor is installed, this means opening then closing the door or window three (3) times.
Each time the Lyric System detects a fault and restore, it will beep to confirm that it received the incoming transmission. After three (3) successful receptions, the panel will beep three (3) times and you will be taken back to the previous screen. The Serial Number field will be automatically filled-in with the correct Serial Number.
Remember that the VERSA-2GIG will only send transmissions if it is powered on. Make sure the sensor has a fresh CR2032 coin battery installed.
3. Program the zone. Go through and program the rest of the zone as needed. Make sure to set the appropriate Response Type based on how you want the Lyric System to respond when the VERSA-2GIG Sensor is faulted or activated.
4. Save your changes. After configuring all the settings, press the Save button in the lower-right corner of the screen. You can then back out to home screen.
