How Do I Remotely Control a ZWSTAT from my Android or iOS Phone?

You can remotely control a ZWSTAT from your Android or iOS Phone using either the Total Connect mobile app or the Alarm.com mobile app. You will use Total Connect if your security system is a Honeywell model, and you will use Alarm.com if your security system is from 2GIG or Qolsys.

In order to control the ZWSTAT using your phone, you will need to have an active alarm monitoring plan that includes access to either Total Connect or Alarm.com, and the automation feature for Z-Wave devices enabled. Upon activating your monitoring service, your alarm monitoring company should send you an email with instructions for setting up your Total Connect or Alarm.com account. Use this email to configure your account so that you can access Total Connect or Alarm.com.

After you have the account set up, you can use your account information to access the Total Connect platform or the Alarm.com platform by using the respective mobile app. Both the Total Connect app and the Alarm.com app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store or the App Store on your smartphone. Download the appropriate app, and then use your account information to login to the service. Using this mobile app, you will be able to control the Z-Wave devices in your home or business from anywhere in the world.

Once you have accessed Total Connect, and the ZWSTAT has been included with your alarm panel's Z-Wave devices, you will need to conduct a panel sync, assuming that you have not already done so. This will update the list of Z-Wave devices that have been enrolled with your system. Navigate to the section on Total Connect or Alarm.com that allows you to control home automation. Your ZWSTAT will be displayed, provided that it has been properly set up with your security panel. If your ZWSTAT has not been set up with your panel, you can do so using your panel's Z-Wave inclusion mode. From there, you will be able to increase or decrease the set temperature of the ZWSTAT and adjust any other heating and cooling settings as needed.
