How Do I Reset The Installer Code On Qolsys IQ Panel 4?
To edit the Installer Code of an IQ Panel 4, you must know the existing Installer Code, or the Dealer Code. To edit, from the Home Screen press the gray Menu bar, then tap Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Installer or Dealer Code (1111 or 2222 by default, respectively) > User Management.
If your account is monitored via Alarm.com, your alarm dealer can change the Installer Code remotely through the Alarm.com Partner Portal. While they can't view the current Installer Code, they can provide a new one. Once sent to the panel, the provided code becomes the new Installer Code.
To get to the User Management screen, you can enter any one (1) of three (3) codes when prompted. You can enter the current Installer Code, which by default is 1111. You can enter the Dealer Code, which by default is 2222, or you can enter the Master Code, which is 1234 by default. However, only by entering the Installer Code or the Dealer Code can you gain access to change the Installer Code.
To reset or change the Installer Code, follow these steps:
- Enter User Management. From the main panel screen on the IQ Panel 4, press the gray bar at the top-center of the screen. Then select Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter the current Installer or Dealer Code (default values are 1111 or 2222 respectively) > User Management.
-
Edit the Installer Code. If you log in using the Dealer Code, you will see every code that is currently enabled in the system. Depending on how many codes there are, you may need to scroll down to find the Installer Code. The Duress Code is User 240, the Installer Code is User 241, and the Dealer Code is User 242. These user numbers can't be changed, and the Installer and Dealer codes cannot be removed, only edited. Click the pencil icon to the right of the Installer Code to access its edit screen.

Enter new code. On the edit screen, the current Installer Code won't be visible. To change it, first position your cursor to the right of the obscured current code (indicated by asterisks). Use the backspace on the virtual keyboard to delete the current code. Not knowing this one simple rule will cause frustration!
Once you've deleted the existing User Code, enter the new 4-digit code (or 6-digit, depending on your system settings.) Press either the remove keyboard button on the panel's virtual keyboard (this looks like a computer keyboard with an arrow pointing downward from it) and then touch the space for Confirm User Code. The virtual keyboard will pop back up.
Or, on the virtual keyboard, tap the tab or right-arrow key to be taken automatically to this field. Like before, position the cursor to the right of the asterisks, delete the existing code, and re-enter your new Installer Code. To "reset" the Installer Code to its default, input 1111 in both fields. Remember to tap "Save" to retain changes. - Exit and test. Press the house icon at the bottom to return to the Home Screen. Test your new Installer Code by retracing the steps to access the User Management screen. Ensure that the Installer Code appears among the listed codes. Note: All codes, except the Dealer Code, should be visible.
