How do I install a LYNX Touch security system?
The Honeywell LYNX Touch family are self-contained, wireless alarm systems that are designed for the DIY user. They each have a built-in 95dB siren and include an on-board battery backup and an AC transformer that powers it from a local receptacle. The release of the L5200 and L7000 LYNX Touch models marked the first of Honeywell's wireless alarm systems that are capable of flash upgrades. This means both of these units will allow you to push firmware upgrades through without needing to replace any hardware.
The predecessor to the newer line of LYNX Touch models was the L5100 LYNX Touch. The downside to this unit is that it is not flash upgradeable but it is still a great unit. Check out Sterling installing the L5100 in a traditional wall mounted solution:
As depicted in the L5100 installation video you can wall mount the unit using the included anchors and snake the LT power cable (not included). Another option when installing the LYNX Touch is to use a desk mount. The L5000DM is the desk mount for the L5100 or L5200 and the L7000DM fits the larger footprint of the L7000 LYNX Touch. The last install option we have to discuss is a wall mounted L7000 panel using a wire track. In some cases, fire-blocking can prevent the ability to snake a power cable so wire track is a great alternative. Here is our last installation video:

The LYNX Touch alarm panels are very DIY friendly as depicted in these videos. Once installed the icon-based programming is just as intuitive. If you have not yet purchased your LYNX Touch check out our wireless security system kits. These are a great foundation for a new alarm system.
