How Does the Lyric T5 Thermostat Communicate?

The Lyric T5 Thermostat communicates using WIFI. All commands that are sent to the thermostat will be received through its WIFI connection. The Lyric App or Apple HomeKit can be used to send various commands to the Lyric T5 Thermostat, such as increasing or decreasing the temperature.

During the set up process for the Lyric T5 Thermostat, you will connect the device to a WIFI network. The thermostat will use this connection in order to receive commands from the Lyric App and Apple HomeKit. If you are using the Lyric App, the app should automatically recognize the Lyric T5 Thermostat in the area to begin enrollment. If not, then the device can be enrolled manually by choosing "Install a Device" in the Lyric App. If Apple HomeKit is being used, the Lyric T5 Thermostat can be added using the "Add Device" function in the Apple HomeKit App.

Both the Lyric App and Apple HomeKit can greatly enhance the user's experience with their Lyric T5 Thermostat. One of the most exciting features is that of Geofencing. By using the Geofencing feature, the Lyric App or Apple HomeKit will automatically track the user through GPS. When the user comes within a certain radius of their home, the Lyric App or Apple HomeKit will send a signal to the Lyric T5 Thermostat to begin heating or cooling the house. This will ensure that the house is a comfortable temperature when the user arrives home, and it will save them a tremendous amount of money since their heating and cooling system will not be running all day. Any Geofencing signal will be sent to the system through its WIFI connection.

Additionally, the Lyric App and Apple HomeKit can be used to send manual commands to the Lyric T5 Thermostat. All of these manual commands will be received by the Lyric T5 Thermostat through WIFI. These commands include setting the device to heating or cooling mode, turning off the thermostat or just simply checking the current temperature. If HomeKit is being used, the user will be able to send voice commands to SIRI to control the Lyric T5 Thermostat. This is extremely convenient for users who do not want to navigate through an App to adjust their thermostat. If you're using Alexa, the T5 can be connected to the Alexa App through the Honeywell Lyric skill, much in the same way that the Lyric Round Thermostat does.
