How Long Does a Siren Sound For on an Interlogix Simon XT?

A siren on an Interlogix Simon XT will sound until either the system is successfully disarmed or the siren timeout period expires. To disarm the system, the Master Code or a valid user code must be entered. The siren timeout duration for the system can be adjusted from system programming.

When an alarm occurs, a user will typically disarm the system to stop the siren from sounding. This can be accomplished using any valid user code or the Master Code. Once the code has been entered, the siren will stop sounding, and the system will return to normal.

But if a valid code is not entered, then the siren will continue to sound until the siren timeout period expires. The siren timeout is an option within system programming. It can be set anywhere from 2 minutes to 254 minutes. It can also be turned off entirely.

Complete the following steps to adjust the siren timeout on a Simon XT System:

1. Access programming. Start from the main screen of the Simon XT System. Use the up and down arrows to scroll between menu options. When you find "System Programming", press the "OK" button. You must then enter in the Installer Code for the system. This code is set to 4321 by default. Press the "OK" button once you have entered in the code. You will then enter into the system programming menu.

2. Access the timers menu. Use the up and down arrows to scroll between menu options. Stop when you locate "Timers". Then press the "OK" button. You will enter into the timers sub-menu.

3. Adjust the siren timeout. Use the up and down arrows to scroll between menu options. Stop when you locate "Siren Timeout". Then press the "OK" button. Then use the numeric keypad or the up and down arrows to adjust the siren timeout. The siren timeout can be set anywhere from 2 to 254 minutes. It can also be set to "off" to have the siren sound until a valid code is entered. Once you have made the selection, press the "OK" button.

4. Exit programming. Repeatedly press the "Status" key until you return to the main screen. Any programming changes that were made will be saved.
