How Loud is the DSC Impassa Siren?

The DSC Impassa Siren is capable of producing sounds up to 85 dB. This is about as loud as a passing diesel truck. If the user requires a louder siren, they can use a DSC WT4911B Wireless Outdoor Siren. This add-on can produce sounds of up to 100 dB, which is about as loud as a motorcycle.

The DSC Impassa will activate its siren whenever an alarm event occurs, as long as the siren is enabled from within System Programming. The internal siren option is found within the 11th System Options Menu. This menu can be accessed by entering in the command [*] [8] [Installer Code] [024]. The default installer code for the DSC Impassa System is 5555. A user can access this menu at any time to enable or disable the internal siren.

The internal siren produces sounds of up to 85 dB. This is loud enough for most applications. But if a user needs to a louder siren, then a more powerful sounder will need to be added. The easiest option is to generally use a wireless siren. A wireless will be easy to program with the system, and it will be easy to provide power to the device. However, it is important to make sure that the siren is compatible with the DSC Impassa. A great siren to use with the DSC Impassa is the WT4911B Wireless Outdoor Siren. This siren can produce sounds of up to 100 dB, and it features a blue strobe light for providing visual indication of an alarm.

There are also hardwired sirens that can be used with DSC Impassa. But these sirens are usually more difficult to set up, and an auxiliary power supply will most likely be required. But the benefit of a hardwired siren is that many of these devices can produce sounds of up to 120 dB. This is loud enough to alert everyone in the building and the surrounding area to an alarm event.
