How Many Scenes Are Supported with the Honeywell VAM and Tuxedo Touch WIFI?
The number of scenes that are supported with the Honeywell VAM and Tuxedo Touch WIFI are 30 scenes for the VAM and 50 scenes with the Tuxedo Touch WIFI. The Honeywell VAM will support 20 TC2 scenes and 10 local scenes. The Tuxedo Touch WIFI will support 20 TC2 scenes and 30 local scenes.
A smart scene refers to a single command that tells one or more smart devices to respond in a predetermined manner. Typically, these smart devices include Z-Wave smart home automation modules and the alarm control panel itself. An example of a smart scene might arm the system away, turn off all the Z-Wave lights and tell the Z-Wave thermostat to stop cooling the house. This scene might be called "Work", and a user might activate this scene as they leave for work for the day. A maximum of 10 devices can be included in a single smart scene.
Both the Honeywell VAM and the Honeywell Tuxedo Touch WIFI will serve as a Z-Wave controller for a Honeywell VISTA Alarm System. The Tuxedo also doubles as a touchscreen keypad for the system. Up to 50 scenes can be controlled from the Tuxedo Touch. This includes 20 Total Connect 2.0 scenes and 30 local scenes. The local scenes can only be run from the Tuxedo Touch, and they cannot be run from TC2. The TC2 scenes can be run from the Tuxedo, but they cannot be modified through it.
The Honeywell VAM supports up to 20 TC2 scenes and 10 local scenes, for a total of 30 smart scenes. Most VAM users will access Total Connect 2.0 to activate their scenes. The only way to create and run the local scenes is to login to the VAM through a WIFI network. Remember, local scenes cannot be performed through Total Connect 2.0. However, the TC2 scenes can be run from Total Connect 2.0 or by accessing the VAM through a WIFI network.
