How Many Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypads Can I Add to a Simon XT?
Up to four different Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypads can be added to a Simon XT. Each keypad will provide the Simon XT System with an additional point of control. Additionally, these external keypads can be used to operate any Z-Wave home automation devices programmed with the system.
An Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypad is learned in with a Simon XT System in much the same way as any wireless sensor. It is learned in through System Programming, and it is assigned a Group Number for a panic or an auxiliary function. If you want to learn more about the Group Numbers for the system, please review pages 8-10 of the Simon XT Installation Manual.
The primary benefit of an Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypad is that it serves as an additional on-site point of control for a Simon XT System. Many users install an external keypad next to a back door or near a basement entryway so that they can quickly arm or disarm their alarm systems from these areas. This is great for preventing the need to rush across an entire house to disarm the system before the programmed entry delay period expires. Each additional keypad will serve as a new access point for the system.
Another use of the Interlogix Two-Way Talking Touch Screen Keypad is that it can be used to operate Z-Wave home automation devices that have been programmed with the system. Z-Wave home automation is great for reducing energy costs and making one's life more convenient overall. It order to use Z-Wave with the Simon XT, it is necessary to install a cellular communicator. The cellular communicators used with the Simon XT each include an integrated Z-Wave controller.
A cellular communicator will also allow the system to work with Alarm.com. This will also serve as an access point for the system. A user can arm and disarm their system and check the status of sensors through the Alarm.com server. With the Alarm.com Mobile App, these tasks can be accomplished from virtually anywhere. Since cellular service is significantly faster and more reliable than phone line monitoring, we strongly encourage users to upgrade to cellular service. It is widely recognized as being the optimal communication path for an alarm system.
