How Do I Connect A 5800WAVE To My L5200 Or L7000?
The Honeywell L5200 LYNX Touch wireless security system has an internal 110dB siren. This siren is generally loud enough for your home or business if the unit is placed in a central location. However in some cases, the panel may be placed in a peripheral location or you may just want to make the system even louder. The fastest, most straightforward way to do this is to add a Honeywell 5800WAVE.
First, we have to confirm the RF House Code (aka House ID) in panel programming. Click on 'Tools' then input your installer code (default = 4112). Then select 'Program' followed by 'System Type.' By default, the House ID will be set to zero which disable bi-directional RF communications. Clear the zero and set the House ID. Document your House ID. Then back out of programming and always allow the installer to reenter programming when prompted during the exit.
Next, you will need to open the tamper cover on the 5800WAVE and set the dip switches to match the House ID. Dip switches 1 - 3 must be set to the off position first. Use the Honeywell 5800WAVE Install Guide to match the on/off position of each dip switch (4-8) to the corresponding House ID number. The dip switch is off when closer the dip switch numbers.
Simply plug the external siren into a standard receptacle and test the siren by tripping an audible alarm. If you are monitored by a central station be sure to place your system on test before testing alarms. Anytime the L5200's siren is triggered the 5800WAVE will mirror it by outputting a 95dB varied pitch audible alarm.
For added security, you can program a 5800WAVE maintenance zone on your L5200 or L7000 security system.
