How to connect your iPhone to a Honeywell L5200?

There are a few ways that you can communicate between your iPhone and your Honeywell L5200 LYNX Touch alarm system. The L5200 will need an IP or GSM communicator like the L5100-WIFI, ILP5 and/or GSMVLP5-4G. The L5100-WIFI and ILP5 are IP based and must first be connected to a local network with live internet access. The GSMVLP5-4G is a cellular communicator which uses AT&T cellular towers to transmit signals to/from the panel. Then you will need to download the Total Connect 2.0 app on your iPhone. The app is free but there is monthly charge associated with enrolling in the service.

In order to create an account on Total Connect you will need to sign up for a Self-monitoring plan (Total Connect only) or the Plus+ Monitoring plan that includes both Total Connect 2.0 and central station monitoring. Alarm Grid currently offers both of these services with no contract and activation fees. Once you are a live Total Connect customer, you will be able control your L5200 whether you are on cellular or WIFI from your iPhone. The Total Connect app can also show you live status of the system including faults, troubles, low batteries, AC power loss and alarms. There is an easy way to setup text and/or email alerts based on any of these actions occurring as well. Setting a custom ringtone to these alerts makes them extremely valuable in getting a quicker response time on a potential break-in. 

If you are interested in controlling your L5200 locally on the same WIFI network you can download the LYNX Connect app. The app currently costs $0.99 and does not support any remote access outside your local network. The features are similar to the Total Connect 2.0 app in that you can send arm/disarm commands as well control Z-wave devices and view live video from supported Alarmnet cameras. 

**Please note: In order to integrate Z-Wave devices you will need the L5100-Zwave module and in order to integrate cameras you will need an IP communicator listed above. The same app will work with the Honeywell L7000 as well. All of these services are available on the Total Connect 2.0 app remotely.
