Is a Brinks Door Sensor Compatible with a Honeywell L5200?

Certain Brinks Door Sensors are compatible with a Honeywell L5200. The company uses a wide variety of equipment, and only some of it will work with a Honeywell LYNX Touch Panel like the L5200. If the sensor is a rebranded Honeywell Wireless Door Contact, then it should work with the system.

A door sensor is a relatively simple piece of security equipment that consists of a sensor and magnet. The sensor is normally installed on the door frame, and the magnet is installed on the actual door. When the door is opened, the magnet will separate from the sensor. This will release a reed switch inside the sensor and tell the sensor to alert the security system. A door sensor will work with a Honeywell L5200, as long as it communicates at a compatible wireless frequency.

The Honeywell L5200 has a built-in wireless receiver that accepts the 345 MHz signals used by Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors. Some of the wireless door and window contacts used by Brinks are actually rebranded Honeywell 5800 Series Door and Window Contacts. There is nothing stopping these sensors from working with a Honeywell L5200 System.

But this does not mean that all Brinks Door Sensors will work with the L5200. If a Brinks Door Sensor operates at a wireless frequency other than 345 MHz, then it will not work with the system. It's also important to note that 2GIG Wireless Sensors also operate at the 345 MHz frequency, but they communicate across a different channel than the Honeywell 5800 Series Sensors. Any rebranded 2GIG Sensor will not work with the L5200. Additionally, any proprietary hardwired door sensor from Brinks will not work with the system.
