Is the Honeywell 5816LP Compatible w/ My Lyric Alarm System?
Yes, the Honeywell 5816LP is compatible with your Lyric Alarm System. The Honeywell 5816LP is just a two-pack of Honeywell 5816 Door and Window Sensors that is sold by Amazon. These sensors are exactly the same as standard 5186 Contacts, and you will have no trouble using them with a Lyric.
The Honeywell 5816 represents the most popular wireless sensor ever sold. It is a relatively simple door and window contact that can monitor a door or window and let a system know when it is opened and closed. Although it is a bit bulky by today's standards, it will still work just fine. The sensor also has an auxiliary input, allowing you to connect a single normally closed (NC) hardwired contact. The 5816 will then communicate with the panel on the behalf of the connected sensor. In that sense, the Honeywell 5816 can also operate as a wireless transmitter.
The Honeywell 5816LP is just a SKU for a 2-pack of Honeywell 5816 Door and Window Sensors sold by various online retailers, including Amazon. Although this 2-pack is not sold by Alarm Grid, you can buy the 5816LP and expect the sensors to work with a Lyric Security System. This includes a Lyric Panel used with Alarm Grid monitoring services. The sensors will auto-enroll just like any other 5816 sensors, and you can program them according to your needs. We often encourage our customers to shop around and see if they can find better deals on equipment elsewhere. Just understand that we cannot vouch for the quality of sensors sold elsewhere like we can for the equipment sold on our site.
If you are just needing a simple door and window sensor, then you should be aware that the Honeywell 5816 is not your only option. There are many other 345 MHz door and window contacts available for the Lyric. One of the most popular is the VERSA-2GIG. This sensor is basically the same as a Honeywell 5800MINI (which also works with the Lyric), except that it communicates using the same 345 MHz signal as 2GIG 345 MHz Sensors. The Lyric can accept the 2GIG 345 MHz signals, as long as it is running firmware version MR3 or higher. The VERSA-2GIG is considerably slimmer and more compact than the Honeywell 5816, while still offering the same great 200-foot nominal range.
