Does the Honeywell VISTA 21IP Use Wireless Wifi?
The Honeywell VISTA 21iP is not capable of communicating with your home's router wirelessly. The system's integrated AlarmNet internet communicator must be connected with a router using a very common CAT 5 Ethernet cable. The system can communicate wirelessly with cellular networks using the VISTA-GSM4G however. You can disable the IP communicator and only use the wireless GSM communicator if you are unable to get an Ethernet cable connected.
Also, we have had people connect a wireless bridge to the VISTA-21iP's internet communicator to connect to a router wirelessly. We recommend adding the VISTA-GSM4G cellular backup so that the system will still communicate if the wireless bridge loses connection with the router.
