Is the Tuxedo Touch Keypad Compatible w/ 5800RF Sensors?
The Tuxedo Touch keypad is not compatible with any 5800 wireless sensors. 5800 wireless devices can only interface with compatible receivers that support them. The Tuxedo Touch keypad has a built in Z-Wave controller, and certain models can connect to WIFI, but not to 5800 wireless sensors.
The Tuxedo Touch can be mistaken for a full alarm system as the keypad can be used as a standalone automation controller. The Tuxedo itself though, has no receiver to interface with wireless 5800 devices. The Tuxedo Touch can be wired up and used as a touchscreen keypad with a VISTA alarm system. The VISTA wired alarm system is compatible with 5800 devices but it will need an additional receiver to interface with these security sensors. A commonly used receiver is the 6160RF. This is a alphanumeric, full english keypad that can be wired up to a VISTA alarm system. The 6160RF has a built in transceiver that lets a VISTA panel interface with wireless devices.
The receiver in the 6160RF is a high model transceiver. This means that the keypad can support as many wireless devices as can be programmed to the system. The 6160RF also supports bi-directional 5800 devices. These devices use a House ID to function and communicate information to and from the system. The 5828 wireless keypad is a good example of a device that requires a House ID to operate. If you’re looking to simply install a standalone wireless receiver there are multiple options available. The 5881ENH is a standalone receiver that can support as many wireless devices as the system can have in programming, but does not support devices that require a House ID to use. The 5883H supports as many wireless devices as the system can support and can interface with devices that use the House ID feature. The 6160RF is the recommended device to use as it typically is less expensive than the 5883H.
