Qolsys IQ Fob vs IQ Fob-S

The only real difference between the Qolsys IQ Fob-S and the standard IQ Fob is that the IQ Fob-S includes built-in "S-Line encryption". The two keyfobs also have slightly different designs. Otherwise, the two devices operate in the same manner, providing the same functions and features.

The IQ Fob-S uses rolling code encryption when speaking with the panel. Whenever the IQ Fob-S sends a command to the panel, it must share a uniquely encrypted code. Other than the contrasting encryption methods and the differing designs, the IQ Fob-S and the IQ Fob are basically the same. They will both work at a range of up to 100 feet away from the security panel. Both keyfobs can be used to arm and disarm the panel, and they can both send a panic signal by pressing and holding the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. Additionally, both the IQ Fob-S and the IQ Fob will function with both the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 and the original Qolsys IQ Panel. However, it will only use encryption with the IQ Panel 2. Finally, the processes for programming the IQ Fob-S and programming the IQ Fob follow the same steps on the security panel.
