What are Response Types for a Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 or L7000?
Response Types for a Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 or L7000 determine how the alarm system responds when a sensor is faulted. Each system zone is assigned a Response Type as part of its basic programming settings. Some Response Types will only be made available with certain Device Types.

You will see a programming field for Response Type when adding or editing a system zone. To access Zone Programming, start from the main screen of the LYNX Touch System. Choose Security > More > Tools > Installer Code (default 4112) > Program > Zones. From there, you should find the zone you want to work with. Click on the zone to highlight it, and then choose "Edit" in the bottom-left. You will then see a field called Response Type.
Please note that not all Response Types will be readily available from this menu. Certain Response Types will only be available with certain Device Types. If you are unable to find the Response Type you want, you may need to change the Device Type first.
The table below lists all of the available Response Types:
Response Type |
Notes |
Not Used | Undefined Zone. The zone is not active with the system. The sensor can still be programmed, but it will not cause a system response when faulted or tampered. Does not monitor for supervision. |
Entry Exit 1 | Entry/Exit Zone. Will trigger an alarm if the user does not disarm the system within the first set Entry Delay Period after activating the sensor while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. Can be used to set the system to Arm Away when Auto-Stay Arming is enabled if the sensor is activated during the Exit Delay Period after setting the system to Arm Away. |
Entry Exit 2 | Entry/Exit Zone. Will trigger an alarm if the user does not disarm the system within the second set Entry Delay Period after activating the sensor while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. Can be used to set the system to Arm Away when Auto-Stay Arming is enabled if the sensor is activated during the Exit Delay Period after setting the system to Arm Away. |
Perimeter | Perimeter Zone. Will trigger an immediate alarm if the sensor is activated while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
Interior Follower | Interior Zone. Will trigger an immediate alarm if the sensor is activated while the system is Armed Away, unless an Entry/Exit Zone was activated first. |
Day / Night | Day/Night Zone. Will trigger an immediate alarm if the sensor is activated while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. Will produce a trouble condition if the sensor is activated while the system is disarmed. |
24-Hour Silent | 24-Hour Zone. Will produce an immediate silent alarm when the sensor is activated, regardless of whether the system is armed or disarmed. |
24-Hour Audible | 24-Hour Zone. Will produce an immediate audible alarm when the sensor is activated, regardless of whether the system is armed or disarmed. |
24- Hour Auxiliary | 24-Hour Zone. Will produce an immediate auxiliary alarm when the sensor is activated, regardless of whether the system is armed or disarmed. |
Fire No Verification | Fire Zone. Will produce an immediate fire alarm when the sensor is activated, regardless of whether the system is armed or disarmed. Cannot be bypassed. |
Interior With Delay | Interior Zone. Will trigger an alarm if the user does not disarm the system within the first set Entry Delay Period after activating the sensor while the system is Armed Away, unless an Entry/Exit Zone was activated first. Zone is automatically bypassed when the system is Armed Stay. |
Monitor | Monitor Zone. System will display any faults that occur. Restores will be recorded in the event log. No chimes or voice annunciations will occur. Will only report to the central station if the option is enabled. Will not cause any alarm events. |
Carbon Monoxide | Carbon Monoxide Zone. Will produce an immediate carbon monoxide alarm when the sensor is activated, regardless of whether the system is armed or disarmed. Cannot be bypassed. |
Trouble | Trouble Zone. System will display a trouble condition when the sensor is activated. Must restore the sensor and acknowledge the trouble condition to clear. Will only report to central station if programmed. Will not cause any alarm events. |
Arm Stay | Key Fob Zone. Will set the system to Arm Stay mode. |
Arm Away | Key Fob Zone. Will set the system to Arm Away mode. |
Disarm | Key Fob Zone. Will Disarm the system. |
No Response | Undefined Zone. Nothing will happen when the sensor is faulted. Still monitors for supervision. |
Silent Burglary | Intrusion Zone. Will produce an immediate silent alarm when the sensor is activated, regardless of whether the system is armed or disarmed. |
General Monitor | Monitor Zone. System will display any faults that occur. Restores will be recorded in the event log. Activates a one-time audible alert when faulted. Will not report to the central station. Will not cause any alarm events. |
General Response | Response Zone. System will display any faults that occur. Restores will be recorded in the event log. Audible alert will occur every ten seconds until the fault is acknowledged. Will not report to the central station. Will not cause any alarm events. |
Resident Monitor | Monitor Zone. System will display any faults that occur. Faults and restores are not recorded in the event log. Activates a one-time audible alert when faulted. A Follow Me voice message will activate if programmed. System will remain latched until another Monitor Zone or Response Zone is activated, or until a specified time period has elapsed. Will not report to the central station. Will not cause any alarm events. |
Resident Response | Response Zone. System will display any faults that occur. Faults and restores are not recorded in the event log. Audible alert will occur every ten seconds until the fault is acknowledged. A Follow Me voice message will activate if programmed. System will remain latched until another Monitor Zone or Response Zone is activated, or until a specified time period has elapsed. Will not report to the central station. Will not cause any alarm events. |
Fire With Verification | Fire Zone. System will produce a single pulse alarm tone when the sensor is activated the first time. An immediate fire alarm will then occur if the same sensor or any other Fire Zone is activated within a 60-second delay period. This verifies to the system that the alarm is not false. Cannot be bypassed. |
Garage | Garage Zone. Will trigger an alarm if the user does not disarm the system within the second set Entry Delay Period after activating the sensor while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. System can still be armed if zone is in faulted state. If zone is restored while the system is armed, it will then operate like an Entry Exit 2 zone. Can be bypassed using any code except the Guest/Babysitter Code. |
Garage Monitor | Garage Zone. System will display when the sensor is faulted. Cannot trigger a system alarm. Cannot report to a central station. Can produce chimes and voice annunciations. System can still be armed if this zone is in a faulted state. Can be bypassed using any code except the Guest/Babysitter Code. |
