What are Response Types for a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System?
Response Types for a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System determine how the alarm system responds when a sensor is faulted. This setting is configured as part of basic zone programming. Please keep in mind that there are some Response Types that are only available with certain Device Types.
There is a programming field for Response Type when adding or editing a system zone. To access Zone Programming, start from the main screen of the Lyric Controller. Choose Security > Tools > Installer Code (default 4112) > Program > Zones. Then choose the zone you want to configure. Click on the zone to highlight it, and press "Edit" in the bottom-left corner of the screen. There should be a field called Response Type.
There are some Response Types that will only be available when certain Device Types are selected. If you cannot find the Response Type you want, you may need to change the Device Type first.
The table below lists all of the available Response Types:
Response Type |
Notes |
Not Used | Undefined Zone. This zone will not be considered active. The sensor can still be programmed, but there will be no system response when the sensor is faulted or tampered. The system will not monitor for supervision. |
Entry Exit 1 | Entry/Exit Zone. An alarm will occur if the user does not disarm the system within the first set Entry Delay Period if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. As an Entry/Exit Zone, the sensor can be activated during the Exit Delay Period to set the system to Arm Away when Auto-Stay Arming is enabled. |
Entry Exit 2 | Entry/Exit Zone. An alarm will occur if the user does not disarm the system within the second set Entry Delay Period if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. As an Entry/Exit Zone, the sensor can be activated during the Exit Delay Period to set the system to Arm Away when Auto-Stay Arming is enabled. |
Perimeter | Perimeter Zone. An immediate alarm triggers if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. |
Interior Follower | Interior Zone. An immediate alarm triggers if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away, unless it follows an Entry/Exit Zone. |
Day / Night | Day/Night Zone. An immediate alarm triggers if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. A trouble condition is displayed if the sensor is faulted while the system is disarmed. |
24-Hour Silent | 24-Hour Zone. An immediate silent alarm occurs when the sensor is faulted, regardless of the system's current armed state. |
24-Hour Audible | 24-Hour Zone. An immediate audible alarm occurs when the sensor is faulted, regardless of the system's current armed state. |
24-Hour Auxiliary | 24-Hour Zone. An immediate auxiliary alarm occurs when the sensor is faulted, regardless of the system's current armed state. |
Fire No Verification | Fire Zone. An immediate fire alarm occurs when the sensor is faulted, regardless of the system's current armed state. This zone cannot be bypassed. |
Interior With Delay | Interior Zone. An alarm will occur if the user does not disarm the system within the first set Entry Delay Period if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away, unless it follows an Entry/Exit Zone. The zone will be automatically bypassed when the system is Armed Stay. |
Monitor | Monitor Zone. Any faults will be displayed and logged to the event log. The event log will record any restores. No audible tones will be produced. System will only report to the central station if the option is enabled. No alarm events will occur. |
Carbon Monoxide | Carbon Monoxide Zone. An immediate carbon monoxide alarm will occur when the sensor is activated, regardless of the system's current armed state. This zone cannot be bypassed. |
Trouble | Trouble Zone. A trouble condition will be displayed when the sensor is activated. The sensor must be restored and the trouble condition must be acknowledged for the trouble to clear. Only reports to the central station if programmed. No alarm events will occur. |
Arm Stay | Key Fob Zone. System will enter Arm Stay mode. |
Arm Away | Key Fob Zone. System will enter Arm Away mode. |
Disarm | Key Fob Zone. System will Disarm. |
No Response | Undefined Zone. No response when the sensor is faulted. Sensor still checks-in for supervision. Used for automation upon zone fault, with no other indication of the fault. Can be used to create scenes. |
Silent Burglary | Intrusion Zone. An immediate silent alarm occurs when the sensor is faulted, regardless of the system's current armed state. |
General Monitor | Monitor Zone. Faults will be displayed on the system and logged to the event log, along with two (2) beeps, plus "Activity Detected" + "Zone Descriptor" if voice is enabled. The voice message will only be announced once. The Event log will record any restores. A fault on this zone will not prevent the system from being armed. The displayed fault will clear once the zone is physically restored. The system will not report to a central station. No alarm events will occur. |
General Response | Response Zone. Faults will be displayed on the system and logged to the event log, along with two (2) beeps, plus "Activity Detected" + "Zone Descriptor" if voice is enabled. The voice message will be repeated every 20 seconds until the system is disarmed via the keypad or using a key fob. The Event log will record any restores. A fault on this zone will not prevent the system from being armed. The displayed fault will clear once the zone is physically restored AND the fault has been acknowledged. The system will not report to a central station. No alarm events will occur. |
Resident Monitor | Monitor Zone. Faults will be displayed on the system, along with two (2) beeps, plus "Activity Detected" + "Zone Descriptor" if voice is enabled. The voice message will be repeated for 15 seconds, while also being displayed on the screen. The fault will clear after 15 seconds, regardless of the state of the zone. The Event Log will not record any faults or restores. The system will be latched until another Monitor Zone or Response Zone is faulted, or until the predetermined 15-second time period has elapsed. The system will not send reports to the central station. No alarm events will occur. |
Resident Response | Response Zone. Faults will be displayed on the system, along with two (2) beeps, plus "Activity Detected" + "Zone Descriptor", even if voice is NOT enabled. The voice message will be repeated every 10 seconds until the fault is acknowledged and cancelled with a valid code or through a key fob disarm. The system display will show a cancel prompt. The zone type must be acknowledged before it will clear the display. Event log will not record any faults or restores. The system will not send reports to the central station. No alarm events will occur. |
Fire With Verification | Fire Zone. When the sensor is activated, the system will produce a single pulse alarm tone. IT will then enter a 60-second delay period. If the same zone or any other Fire Zone is activated during this 60-second delay period, an immediate fire alarm will occur. The purpose of this second activation is to verify that the alarm is not false. This zone cannot be bypassed. |
Garage | Garage Zone. An alarm will occur if the user does not disarm the system within the second set Entry Delay Period if the sensor is faulted while the system is Armed Away or Armed Stay. It is still possible to arm the system while this zone is in a faulted state. Should the sensor be restored while the system is already armed, the zone will then behave like an Entry Exit 2 zone. This zone can be bypassed using any code, with the exception of the Guest/Babysitter Code. |
Garage Monitor | Garage Zone. Any sensor faults will be displayed on the system. The sensor cannot trigger an alarm event. The system will not report activity to a central station. Chime is selectable when programming the zone and both chime and voice annunciation can be provided when the sensor is faulted, if the voice feature is also enabled. It is still possible to arm the system while this zone is in a faulted state. This zone can be bypassed using any code, with the exception of the Guest/Babysitter Code. |
Local Alarm | Activates a local alarm event. Commonly used with the panic buttons on the Lyric System or panic switches. Alarm is local only, and does not report to a central station. |
