What does a Honeywell 5816MN door/window sensor do?

A Honeywell 5816MN wireless mini door or window sensor is very similar to the Honeywell 5816 wireless door or window sensor. The only difference between the (2) Honeywell wireless sensors, is that the 5816MN has a smaller case and therefore a smaller installation footprint compared to the 5816.

You can use the 5816MN wireless mini door or window sensor as a simple wireless transmitter by wiring a hardwired alarm device to the internal terminal screws. You must use a normally closed loop when using the 5816MN as a wireless transmitter. You can also use the 5816MN with the included magnet as a wireless door or window sensor. Mount the 5816MN on the frame of the door or window to be protected and install the magnet next to the 5816MN so that when the door or window is opened, the device will trigger an alarm.
