What Does a Total Connect 2.0 Video Plan Include?

A Total Connect 2.0 video plan includes support for up to four (4) VX cameras, and up to eight (8) TC2 HD, and six (6) TC2 legacy SD cameras. Storage limits for VX cameras are 1,500 clips or 30 days, whichever comes first. Once the limit is reached, older footage is overwritten by new clips.

In order to start using Total Connect 2.0 Cameras, you will either need a Platinum Level monitoring plan or a Video-Only Monitoring Plan. With either of these plans, you will get support for up to four (4) VX cameras, up to eight (8) HD cameras and up to six (6) legacy SD cameras, for a potential total of 18 cameras. Please note that a SkyBell device does not count towards either of these limits, but each VX1HD video doorbell camera does count as one (1) VX camera.

You can have a maximum of five (5) SkyBell devices on a TC2 account. You do not need video monitoring service to use a SkyBell device with TC2. You just need a TC2 account. For more information on SkyBell recording limits for TC2, please review this FAQ.

Alarm Grid customers with video monitoring can store up to 1,500 clips for 30 days on each VX-Series camera. These limits apply per camera on the account. Once you reach 1,500 clips or the 30-day storage period expires, the oldest clips will be automatically deleted to make room for new ones. Deleted clips cannot be recovered. To prevent losing important footage, download and save clips to a hard drive or other storage device before they are deleted.

While older, non-VX-Series TC2 cameras are no longer manufactured, you can still activate them for use with Total Connect 2.0 if you find one that's not associated with an account and has been updated to the minimum required firmware. For IPCAM-WIC1/IPCAM-WIC2 the firmware version must be at least 2.07. For IPCAM-WOC1/IPCAM-WOC2, the firmware version must be at least 2.09. These cameras offer 7 days of storage or 350 clips per camera, per account. Once the storage limit is reached, the oldest clips are automatically deleted.

As a reference, the average 10 second clip from a legacy IP camera is around 300KB to 400KB in size. However, some video clips may be up to 2MB in size. You can try and reduce the size of saved clips by reducing recording quality and clip length.

Please note that there is no way to increase any of the aforementioned limits. That is why it is very important to download and save clips before they are automatically deleted. Furthermore, if you need more cameras than a plan allows, you must add a second TC2 account. Keep in mind that TC2 Cameras for a second account will have their own 1,500 clip/30 day, or 350 clip/7day limit that is completely separate from the cameras on the first location.

Note: The Total Connect 2.0 Legacy IP Cameras can only be used if they were online when Resideo pushed an OTA update to make them compatible with the updated TC2 platform. Any legacy camera that was not online to receive this update can no longer be used. Be very careful when purchasing used legacy TC2 IP Cameras, as some people may try to pass off non-updated models to unsuspecting buyers. Please read this FAQ for more information.
