What Does a Total Connect 2.0 Video Plan Include?
A Total Connect 2.0 video plan includes support for up to eight (8) TC2 HD cameras and up to six (6) TC2 legacy non-HD cameras. Storage limits for HD cameras are 1,500 clips or 30 days, whichever comes first. Storage limits for legacy cameras are 7 days or 100MB, whichever comes first.
In order to start using Total Connect 2.0 Cameras, you will either need a Platinum Level monitoring plan or a Video-Only Monitoring Plan. You will get support for eight (8) HD cameras and six (6) legacy cameras. Please note that a SkyBell device does not count towards either of these limits. You can have a maximum of five (5) SkyBell devices on a TC2 account. You do not need video monitoring service to use a SkyBell device with TC2. You just need a TC2 account. For more information on SkyBell recording limits for TC2, please review this FAQ.
The recording limit for any TC2 Camera depends on whether it is a newer HD model or a legacy model. For the newer HD models, Alarm Grid customers with video monitoring service can store up to 1,500 clips. This 1,500 clip limit is across all of their TC2 HD Cameras. Once you reach the 1,500 clip limit, the oldest clips will be automatically deleted to make room for the new ones. Additionally, any clip older than 30 days will also be deleted. Once a clip is deleted, it cannot be recovered. To prevent losing a clip, you should download it and save it to a hard drive before it is deleted.
Older non-HD "legacy" TC2 Cameras are no longer manufactured. But if you manage to find one, you can still activate it for use with Total Connect 2.0. For these devices, you get 100MB of storage across all the legacy cameras on your TC2 account. Once you exceed this storage limit, the oldest clips will be automatically deleted to make room for the new ones. As a reference, the average 10 second clip from a legacy IP camera is around 300KB to 400KB in size. However, some video clips may be up to 2MB in size. If every legacy video clip you store is 2MB, then you will only be able to store a maximum of 50 legacy camera clips. You can try and reduce the size of saved clips but reducing recording quality and by reducing clip length.
Please note that there are no way to increase any of the aforementioned limits. That is why it is very important to download and save clips before they are automatically deleted. Furthermore, if you want to use additional cameras, you must add a second TC2 account. Many customers will add a separate Video-Only Monitoring Plan as a second location on TC2 to add additional cameras. They will be able to access this "second location" from the same TC2 login after we have linked it to their original account. Keep in mind that TC2 HD Cameras for this "second location" will have their own 1,500 clip limit that is completely separate from the TC2 HD Cameras on the "first location".
Note: The Total Connect 2.0 Legacy IP Cameras can only be used if they were online at the time when Resideo pushed down an OTA update to make them compatible with an updated TC2 platform. Any legacy camera that was not online to receive this update can no longer be used. You must be very careful when purchasing used legacy TC2 IP Cameras, as many people will try to pass off bricked models on unsuspecting buyers. Please read this FAQ for more information.
