What does a GSVMLP5-4G communicator do for an L5200?
The Honeywell GSMVLP5-4G is a cellular communicator that is supported by the Honeywell L5200 LYNX Touch alarm system. The L5200 needs an alarm communicator to transmit signals to the Honeywell Alarmnet server. From there the signals can be sent to a central station and/or the Total Connect 2.0 application. The GSMVLP5-4G module is installed inside the L5200 and communicates directly with any AT&T 2G, 3G or 4G tower. Check out our installation video with sterling!
Cellular security systems are extremely versatile and secure! The ability to install a system and have it send signals without an internet or phone connection is a wonderful thing. Whether you have a vacation home, remote warehouse or just simply do not have phone or internet service a cellular communicator is a great option.
As long as you have AC power and decent AT&T cellular reception you can setup a cellular security system just about anywhere in the country. Protect you and your family against line cuts on AC, internet and phone. If you lose AC power to the L5200 panel the GSM unit will run off battery power!
If you do have internet and want to setup up a dual path system check out the Honeywell L5100-WIFI module. When installed in tandem the L5100-WIFI will offer faster speeds resulting in smoother remote access from Total Connect. However if the internet drops out due to power loss to the router, line cut to the coax cable feed or IP conflicts the GSMVLP5-4G will take over and send signals immediately!
