What is the Difference Between an Installer Code & User Code on a Lyric Security System?
The difference between an Installer Code and a user code on a Lyric Security System is that the Installer Code can access system programming. A user code cannot do this. Also, a user code can always disarm the panel, but the Installer Code can only disarm if it was used to arm the panel.
Up to 46 different user codes can be added to a Honeywell Lyric Controller. These 4-digit codes are only used to bypass zones and to arm and disarm the panel. A user code can always disarm the panel, regardless of the code that was used to arm it. By providing a person with a user code, you can allow them to arm and disarm the system, without having to give them the Master Code. The Master Code can do everything a user code can, as well as add, edit and delete user codes. Although the Master Code can be changed, it can never be deleted. There can be only one Master Code on a Lyric system. The default Master Code on a Lyric Controller is 1234.
The video below shows you how to add a user code to a Lyric Controller:
The Installer Code has the ability to access system programming. This is needed for making changes to zones, adjusting communication settings, setting entry and exit delays and more. The only real limitation of the Installer Code is that it can only be used to disarm the panel if it was the code used to arm the panel in the first place. For this reason, we do not recommend using the Installer Code for arming or disarming. Just like the Master Code, the Installer Code can be changed, but it can never be deleted. The only way to change the Installer Code is by using the Installer Code itself. The Installer Code is the only code on the system that cannot be changed using the Master Code. There can be only one Installer Code on a Lyric system. The default Installer Code on a Lyric Controller is 4112.
