What is Total Connect by Honeywell?

Total Connect by Honeywell is an interactive service platform that is used with Honeywell Security Systems. The service is hosted and operated by Honeywell's AlarmNet division. An end user can access the Total Connect 2.0 interactive service at any time to control their alarm system.

Honeywell Alarm Systems are linked with the Total Connect 2.0 service using an IP and/or cellular connection. The service can be accessed by an end user through the Total Connect web site on a browser or through the Total Connect 2.0 Mobile App on an iOS or Android device. The mobile app can be downloaded for free from both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Please note that an alarm monitoring plan that includes Total Connect access is required to use Total Connect. All of the Alarm Grid Monitoring Plans provide access to Total Connect, with the exception of the standard Bronze Plan.

Once a user has logged into their Total Connect account, they will be able to perform a variety of different system functions. These functions include arming and disarming their system, checking the current status of sensors, controlling Z-Wave smart home devices, viewing the live feed of Total Connect Security Cameras and more. By using the TC2 Mobile App on one's smartphone, these functions can be performed from virtually anywhere in the world.

Total Connect service is very important for Honeywell users who have a self-monitored system. A self-monitored system is an alarm system that is not connected with a central monitoring station. Rather, all system alerts, including alarms, are sent to the end user via text and/or email so that they can contact the authorities on their own if needed. However, the system does not send these alerts directly to the end user. Instead, these alerts are first passed through the AlarmNet servers and Total Connect. The Total Connect Service will then forward the alert to the end user. So without Total Connect access, self-monitoring would not be possible. Please note that Total Connect is only for Honeywell Systems. If a system is produced by a different manufacturer, such as Qolsys or 2GIG, then it cannot be used with Total Connect. However, these other systems can typically connect with a different interactive service, such as Alarm.com. The Alarm.com service will provide very similar functions and features as Total Connect 2.0.
