What is User 01 Assigned to on a Honeywell VISTA 21iP?
User 01 is assigned to the Installer Code on a Honeywell VISTA 21iP. This is the code that is used to access programming for most system changes. The Installer Code cannot be deleted from the system, and it cannot be assigned a different user slot. But the Installer Code can be changed.
Every code on a Honeywell VISTA 21iP is assigned a user number for organization purposes. In the case of the VISTA 21iP, the system can support up to 48 codes. Code 01 is always the Installer Code, and code 02 is always the Master Code. These codes can never be deleted, as they are essential for basic system operation. They also cannot be assigned to different user numbers, as they are hardcoded to these slots. There can only be one Installer Code and one Master Code on a VISTA 21iP Panel. The default Installer Code is 4112, and the default Master Code is 1234.
The main purpose of the Installer Code is for the user to access programming. It can also disarm the system if it was the code used to arm it. If a user loses this code, they will need to use the backdoor method to get back into programming. The backdoor method might also be needed if the [*98] command is used to exit programming, which is never recommended. To prevent being locked out of programming, it is recommended that a user keeps their Installer Code at its default setting of 4112.
If a user does need to backdoor into their system, they should power down the system by unplugging the transformer and disconnecting the backup battery. With the system powered down, press and hold the [*] and [#] keys on the keypad. While holding down these buttons, power the system back on by plugging the transformer back in. Wait until the system powers on and the message "20" or "Installer Code 20" appears. Enter in the command [*] + [20] + [4112] to set the Installer Code to 4112. Finish by pressing [*] + [99] to exit programming.
Although changing the Installer Code is not recommended, it is possible. Complete the following steps to change the Installer Code on a Honeywell VISTA 21iP:
1. Enter programming. Enter the command [Installer Code] + [800]. Assuming that the Installer Code is at its default, you will enter in [4112]. After entering in the command, the message "20" or "Installer Code 20" should appear on the screen.
2. Access the field. Although the Installer Code is the default programming field, it's still a good idea to confirm the programming field. Enter the command [*] + [20]. The screen should display "20" or "Installer Code 20" to indicate that you are in the Installer Code field of programming.
3. Change the code. Enter in the four-digit Installer Code you want to use. The panel will beep three times to confirm the code has been changed.
4. Exit programming. Enter the command [*] + [99]. This will exit programming and return the keypad to its main screen.
