Which Battery Packs are Compatible with the Honeywell L5000?

There are three battery packs that are compatible with the Honeywell L5000. The Honeywell LYNXRCHKIT-SC, the Honeywell LYNXRCHKIT-HC and the Honeywell LYNXRCHKIT-SHA will all work with the system. Each battery holds a different level of charge for keeping the system temporarily powered.

Having a backup power source is very important for an alarm system. There will be times when the electricity goes out, and the system will need a backup battery to stay running. If the system powers down completely, then there will be no way to send out alarm reports in the event of a burglary or fire. This could result in an emergency going unreported until it is too late. For that reason, every security system should have a reliable backup battery installed.

Honeywell offers three backup battery options for use with the L5000 System. Each battery plugs into the back of the system and functions in the same way. However, these batteries differ in the amount of charge they can hold. The greater the charge, the longer the system can remain powered. The LYNXRCHKIT-SC Standard Capacity Battery will keep the panel on for 4 hours. The LYNXRCHKIT-HC High Capacity Battery will keep the system running for a few hours longer. The LYNXRCHKIT-SHA Super-High Capacity Battery will keep the system running for up to 24 hours. All of these batteries will also work with the other Honeywell LYNX Systems.

A backup battery continuously stores a charge while the system is running on AC power. This ensures that the battery is ready for then power goes out. Once this happens, the system will automatically switch over to its backup source to stay running. But there will come a time when the battery is no longer is able to store a charge, and it will need to be replaced. A user can expect this to happen after 3 to 5 years, and a low battery message will appear on the screen. The user should try and see if the warning clears after 24 hours of running on plug-in power. If it doesn't, then the battery is most likely unable to store an adequate charge.
